Recommend your sippy cup!

Okay, I'm visiting from 9-12 mo.  I want to start introducing DD to sippy cups... but there are SO many of them out there, and I know several of my cousins swear that their child won't drink out of ANY other sippy except the one that they're using.  So I wondered what your take is on it.  What's the best sippy cup for a beginner?

Re: Recommend your sippy cup!

  • Unfortunately I think it is kind of a trial and error thing.  I have thrown out two different sippys that DS would not use.  Probably the best fit right off was the Avent sippy cups.  Then we transitioned him up to Playtex.  I think the super hard spouts were hard for him to get accustomed to.  Just a FYI.  I would try to get your LO into a brand (eventually) that you can buy replacement parts to.  For example, Playtex sells packs of their non-spill valves.  That is SUPER handy.  Good luck!

  • We've always used Tilty cups. They're not spill proof, but I didn't want a cup where she'd still have to learn how to use a normal cup.

  • I actually tried a bunch of the facier mre expensive cups and DD hated them all. Then I got these Munchkin soft spout cups from Target. They were less expensive then most and they were definitely DD's fav.

I couldn't find them at target.com but I am pretty sure they still have them in store.

  • We've tried about a million and, so far, prefer the NUK ones. They spill a couple of drops if thrown.

  • Out of all the ones I have tried with LO, I liked/she liked as well the Nuby ones from Walmart. They're cheap and they're the only ones that do NOT leak when tipped upside down (even though the other ones we bought said the same thing, they still leaked).
