For our night feedings LO falls asleep after about 10-20 minutes of nursing. Sometimes I can tell he needs to be burped but other times he falls asleep peacefully and I don't want to wake him up to burp. We typically bedshare after the first sleep block so there's no getting up and carrying him to the crib or anything, I just slide away from him.
Sometimes he will wake up fussing after an hour or so and he needs to either burp or fart, other times, he'll stay asleep for a few hours.
Do you ALWAYS burp your LO if you nurse him/her to sleep? Do you find burping him or her helps them sleep more comfortably?
Re: Nurse to sleep- Need to Burp?
A almost always falls asleep while nursing during the night (she nurses 10 min at the most). She spits up a lot, so I always put her up to my shoulder to burp after feeding. However, if she doesn't burp on her own when I put her up there, she's not going to burp. I just make sure she is sleeping soundly and has been upright for a bit and then it's back to bed for her.
ETA: Wyatt is so stinkin' cute! After your post about him being almost too big for his Bumbo (I didn't get a chance to post in it), we took A to try one out. She's pretty much too big for it, too! Her poor legs wouldn't fit in there too long. We ended up buying this so she can sit up and play. Plus we can use it much longer than the Bumbo. Either way, your post helped me out a lot!
Sorry for the hijack.
I gave up on burping her if she's asleep. A) I hate to wake her
YES! Someone had sent me the link to that summer infant seat and I just happened to go to a HUGE kids consignment sale and there was one there! I got it for Wyatt too
Yup, the bumbo legs are really tight! But we still wedge him in and out of it so he can sit on the table whle we eat and be at our level. When I pick him up, DH has to peel the Bumbo off of his chubby legs
I'm glad it helped! Adele is such a cutie pie!!!
I've been having an issue with my LO waking up 1-3 times after he's down for the night. When he does it, he wakes up very suddenly, crying. Sometimes he'll burp when I pick him up, and then he'll fall asleep again. So recently, I've been working a lot harder to make sure that he burps, and I can usually get it out of him even when he's asleep. I have to work really hard at it when he is asleep, and I end up doing a lot of repositioning him and dancing with him. I have found that sometimes the wake up is because he wants to eat one more time, so I don't know if it's actually related to the burping or not.
I guess this rambling post isn't really all that helpful because I'm not sure that I've got it resolved. He did stay asleep last night, though, so I might be on to something!
