Did you or your parents ever have a waterbed?

I don't know why I got thinking about this last night but I did. I remember my brother having one and those things were so uncomfortable. So 80's. What else do you remember from the 80's that was a stupid idea?

Re: Did you or your parents ever have a waterbed?

  • Yea, I had one growing up.  Do they even still make them?

  • Ugh.  My dad got one after my parents got divorced.  It was so the divorced-guy thing to have in the '80s.  It was awful.
  • No, but my dad had a moustache.

( he STILL has a moustache.)

  • My parents had one and so did my little brother. He got one because he said he needed from playing football.

  • I hope not. If so, whoever buys one is getting ripped off.
  • lol yes my parents did!  i would get sick on one of those now.  does anyone still have a waterbed?

  • My parents had one growing up.  My mom told me stories about being PG with me & trying to get out of the waterbed with a 8 month belly.  LOL.  Yeah, NOT such a great idea.

  • I had one as well as my parents. My parents still have one, well kind of. It is like a water bed topper. I don't even know how to explain it.
  • My Aunt had one and I got sick jumping on it when I was a kid. I have a major problem with motion sickness ok?
  • I remember a friend that had one.  We would always wake up sweating buckets and with back pain.
  • I had one.  Although it may have not been the most comfortable thing in the world, I loved it in the winter-super warm!
  • My best friend had one.  I loved watching movies on it when it was really cold out, we would turn up the heat on it.  Very cozy.

I think Multiples, those tubes you could wear 8 ways were one of the dumber ideas.

I have a "new" waterbed.  lol
It is a real mattress, but you can unzip it and there are these tubes inside that you fill with as much water as you want.  Because they are individual tubes, the whole bed doesn't move when you get on, and you can adjust your side to be as firm as you like.
It is really the most comfortable bed I have ever had!

I did have the old uncomfortable waterbed when I was a teenager.  It was not cool.

LOL!  I was thining this exact thing.  I cannot imagine being pregnant and having to sleep on a water bed.  That would seriously stink.

No one in my family had a water bed.

  • My best friend did.  A twin.  We'd sleep 3 or 4 girls on that during sleepovers.  Ah, memories.

  • HAHA this post makes me crack up.  I think my grandparents had one and I was always worried it would pop.

Multiples were hilarious - I remember those!

I think big shoulder pads were a bad idea.  I can't BELIEVE huge belts are back in now?!?!  And leggings?  And side pony tails.

Ohmygod, and the BIG HAIR, the bangs that went straight up and curled back?  HAHAHAHA

  • My boyfriend in college had one when he moved into his own apartment.  (that was in the 90's).

I remember feeling like I was going to puke when I had a hangover and the damn bed kept moving.  I hated it.  I don't know if he still has it-lol.

  • We had one up until right after Nora was born.  It was one that was "waveless," but it was still a waterbed.  I had it from when I was a teenager and we were too broke to buy a new bed.
  • yup, I had one (in the 90's though). I got a kitten shortly after getting the water bed & he poked holes in it...was not fun trying to drain it in an upstairs apartment. good times!
  • My dad had one. Loved it but I'm cheesy like that.
