what i did with both of mine is cut the day time bottles cold turkey, but kept one night time bottle. I just played that by ear. i did that with both of mine. for nap time they just had to cry it out since they were used to their bottle.
but the night time bottle, my first (now 3) dropped it on his own. My second (now 18 months) i quit that around 15 months cold turkey....once again at night he had to CIO a little
I started by replacing the morning bottle with a sippy and when he was doing good with that I just went cold turkey with the rest of the bottles except the one right before bed. I have no idea when we will drop that one. I'm not too worried about it yet. And he still gets formula in all his cups.
I cut the bottle cold turkey at 10 months. She wouldn't drink as much milk/formula from the sippy, but after a couple of weeks she started to drink her normal amount until she was completely on milk when she decided to go from 3 to only 2 sippys of milk a day.

I dont know if its me being an impatient person or what...but i found it much easier when it came to my boys personalities ( and mine) to cut things cold turkey...im an all or nothing kinda person...we did this with paci's too. I just like that it doesn't drag out

wow a newb who makes perfect sense!!!!
DH and I are going away this weekend and the girls will be with Grammy. I am doing this next Monday. Thanks for the voice of reasoning.
I should also ask if your babes starting sleeping less? Abigail just started sttn and I am so scared that the lack of oz's with screw this up. Maybe that's why I am so scared to stop the bottle. Fcuk, she's going to bottle fed until she's 12. This whole post was a waste of space.

Ha ha. Well I'm still nursing C to sleep because I want to, so I can't say for sure. But I will say that the timing of his food is seeming to become less important as he gets older. So for example sometimes rather than giving him his late-morning sippy I just give him a small sippy with breakfast if we're headed out to do errands or what have you. As long as he gets what he needs overall he does fine. I think their bodies are more ready to just have meals and snacks by this point and they can go overnight just fine. But this is my instinct based on my own kid, not science or research. And he's always slept better than Abigail so she may be different that way.
Sure, rub it in
I don't know why I don't remember any of this. I am hoping the bottles are just habit and her sleep won't be affected (?). She eats enough solids that's for sure.

eh....they have never really been champs at sleeping. Naps are/were fine. Once they got past the initial shock of not having a bottle for nap, they were good. 2-3 hr naps still. night time is different...if my oldest woke up in the middle of the night i gave that kid a bottle...who cares what you are "supposed" to do. it worked for us. he sleeps through the night now. my 18 month old we are doing the same thing. haha did any of this make sense?
oh and im not a newb been around for a long time. but i started back to work when my youngest turned 6 months, had no time to get on here after that...so a few weeks ago I was bored, and forgot my original login info...and had to make up new stuff. home sick today...so here i am.
hows that for a bunch of info you don't care about

Yes. We dropped a bottle and DD stopped sleeping. However, she was also a little under the weather and teething, so I can't tell what specifically is causing the poor sleep. That being said, each night when she wakes up she is starving and will guzzle 6 ounces. Normally if she just isn't feeling well I can rock her back to sleep without a bottle.

I need to transition Abigail and she isn't taking to the cup before naps.
I don't recall what I did with Abigail.
