He totally surprised me with an early birthday/graduation gift this
morning... a Keurig!!! I have been drooling over, whining about and
begging for this dream machine for months and he decided to surprise me
a month early. He kind of rocks.
I love LOVE my Keurig!! I am sooooo in love with it that I did an entire blog post (and this AW post) about it. And bonus... if I am lucky enough to get a bfp soon, this will help to regulate the coffee drinkage, since I can more easily measure one cup a day (this was part of my reasoning in lobbying for the Keurig to begin with. logical argument, I think).
Anyway, ta-daa!! Yay for a very thoughtful dh (or
possibly one who just wants me to stop emailing him "hints" about the
Keurig)... either way I'll take it.
Does anyone else have a Keurig? If so, what is your favorite K-cup?
Any other awesome DH stories this weekend? Let's give those boys some credit.
Re: Update to Graduation Gift Poll and a huge AW for DH (nbr)
That's awesome! I am really thinking about getting one. I had the "tassimo" version in 2006 and never used it so DH thinks I'm nuts. (The discs were hard to find back then!)
My DH AW; we went to a couple's shower- if you won a basket/door prize but got your number called again- you had the option to switch. Well, DH wins the "baking basket" with all these mixes and that brownie pan that "cuts" them while they bake. I was SO pumped. Then his number gets called again and it's for the man's tool set basket. He declined the tool basket to keep the baking one just because he knew I had wanted to win it
That is so great! We have the same one, got it last summer. I reasoned that when DH was spending all weekend at soccer tournaments, I had no desire to make a pot of coffee, so often went without and that made me a very cranky, caffeine-hungover lady.
Oh, and I've gotten a good deal for K-cups at BJ's. They sell Green Mountain. The selection isn't always the same, but we usually get either Columbian or Hazelnut.
As for awesome DH - it actually happened last Sunday, but I still feel happy thinking about it. I was majorly PMSing, and had a horrible weigh-in at WW, and I was really angry with myself. From the time I walked in the door I was a grumpy mess. I started whining about having so many projects to do around the house, but couldn't get them done because Ian was always begging for my attention (not really something to complain about, but it was huge in my mind at the time). DH suddenly got up, got himself and I dressed and said, "See you in a couple hours. Get what you need done." And I did. I was so grateful. He always seems to know what to do when I'm not feeling so sane.
Very cool! My mom has one and buys her kcups directly so that she only gets the flavors she wants. I don't like coffee, but I do like the kcups hot chocolate and hot cider when I am at her house.
My DH: After the apple picking today I came home and was so tired. DH put her down for a nap and I took a nap also - for 3 hrs! When I woke up, dh had dd already awake and sitting in the high chair eating dinner. Sooo nice!
DH has been really awesome this past week. DD was sick Tuesday thru Thursday (and then she and I developed a cold on friday/Saturday which has been awesome) and he was able to be home w her and I only had to take 1/2 day on Friday. He has been working SO hard and picking up a lot of OT to save up for the baby and has generally been awesome.
I love the Keurig! Seriously, I don't think I could ever go back to a regular one. Another bonus....the hot water from there rocks when heating up frozen BM! It's so fast too! Great job to your DH!!!
No DH AWing here today....he was a jerk this weekend and I'm crabby!
Never thought of it for hot water for BM! Good tip!!!
We like ours. I like the Green Mountain brand and got a big thing from BJs (but I drink decaf). DH likes Millstone for his regular (in a red box). I got him Dunkin Dounuts and he likes that one too and some of the Green Mountain ones. It definitely doesn't make as good of coffee as our percolator, but since I always drink decaf and he doesn't, it works out well. Plus I work from home and just make one cup in the morning, so it's nice for that.
Aw, how sweet of him! I had a Keurig, and loved it... but had such bad luck w/ them. I went through 2 in a year. My mom bought me one, and it just stopped working after about 3 months. Took it back to Kohl's (love their return policy, my mom used her charge so they took it back no questions asked) got a new one and that lasted about 8 months... then it started acting funky. When I pressed the larger sized brew button it would only give me about 1/4 cup. Tried cleaning/descaling it but nothing worked. I was going to exchange it again, but decided to take a store credit instead. I miss it, but I don't miss the $$$ I used to spend on K-Cups. DH and I drink A LOT of coffee, so it got expensive. I always loved the pumpkin K-Cups that came out this time of year. I heard that Starbucks is supposed to come out w/ K-Cups starting in November?!
I definitely have to give DH a little shout out. He's been nothing short of amazing all week. I went back to work last week and not only has he been emotionally supportive, he has been such a huge help around the house. I came home one day last week and he had cleaned the entire house. Plus he's been picking E up from daycare, taking care of dinner and having him bathed and ready for bed when I get home (sucks working till 7) so I can have time to just cuddle and play w/ him before he goes to bed. He also helped me out big time this weekend w/ a cake order I did... it was a Sabres/hockey themed cake and he had such good ideas. The cake was the shape of a jersey, and DH traced all the letters and #'s for me (I suck at block lettering!) It turned out great, and the birthday boy loved it!
