This is a GREAT book! Buy it! My son loves it and it comes with a cd which we have listened to endless times!

Does your LO like chapter books yet? DS loves Henry and Mudge, Mr Putter and Tabby and Poppleton. Great short chapter books!

  • DD loved most any Mo Willems book -- Knuffle Bunny series, Edwina, The Pigeon series.  DS already likes City Dog, Country Frog (warning: kind of sad, more for adults).

    Little Critter books

    Franklin books

    You and Me

    Dr. Seuss

I got one for Christmas that is really funny and adorable -- Interrupting Chicken.

ETA:  How Do Dinosaurs were good then.  Llama llama she got into later.  10 Minutes to Bedtime was good -- very simple -- but great way to learn her numbers.

  • All things Fancy Nancy, Olivia, Amelia Bedelia, Berenstein Bears, Llama books, Madeline series...and tons of one offs.

My favorites are the Olivia books.  Ian Falconer is so talented - I chuckle my way through them!

  • For more short chapter book ideas, DS loves the Magic Treehouse series.  We've also read two of the Mouse and the Motorcycle books, which he enjoyed, but I think were still a little over his head.

  • Any of the Arthur books by Marc Brown.  They were on the suggested reading list from her pre-K class this summer so I got a few from the library and she loves them so much they may be making the Christmas list.

  • Saving for later. We go to the library once a week.

ETA: My DD loves all the Dora and Diego books and also enjoys Curious George thanks to my Dad. However I am not a fan of many of the Curious George books. He is smoking a pipe in the one we just returned and he's generally very naughty.

  • There Was an Old Monster by Rebecca, Adrian, and Ed Emberley

    and

    The Hiccupotamus by Aaron Zenz

  • DS is just getting into the Mo Willems Pigeon books, he adores them.  He also likes John Lithgow's books (particularly Micawber and The Remarkable Farkle McBride) and the Llama Llama books.

  • We've been reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear a lot because he reads it at school.

He loves the Tonka book series "If I could rive a _____ truck."

We all adore the Llama books.  There is a new one:  Llama Llama Home with Mama.  It's about being sick.

DD loves Pinkalious (series) and Fancy Nancy at that age.   Actually, she still does.

He also loves a book called "I like trucks."    And anything Lightening McQueen.

I think you recommended these when I asked this a month or so ago before our vacation. I got several of them from the library. They are so archaic...I remember having one of them when I was a kid. But ds LOVED them. We read the firefighters one 1000 times the week of vacation and he still walks around and randomly says "A cheese car? No way." from the illustration in the one you mentioned above.

The How Do Dinosaurs ones are huge hits. He's a huge fan of anything Seuss. He likes the Curious George books. Where The Wild Things Are. We got the Knuffle Bunny one with an audio book and it made me want to claw my ears off with the shrieking and wailing.
