C-sections

Severe Pain on one side

I had my 3rd c section 3 weeks ago.  I know that there is some soreness to be expected, but I have NEVER experienced anything like this before!

Starting a week after my c section, I had a sharp burning pain on the left side of my incision, so bad that I could hardly walk and had to call my OB for some more pain meds.  It has moved lower than it had been and I now feel a sharp tearing/burning pain in my left groin.

I had been told by 2 OB's that it could be from the internal stitches getting caught up on Fascia.  Has anyone ever experienced this and when can I expect it to stop hurting?  The pain gets so bad sometimes (even while sitting still) that I could just cry or curse my head off!  (lol)  I mean, it's really not funny, it just sounds funny.

I'm also wondering if this could be nerve damage from the spinal?  She stuck me twice this time, but before it took affect, I guess while she was poking around, I felt shooting pain in my left hip.  I'm just thankful that I didn't get the spinal headache this time...

I feel like it's never gonna get better!

TIA Smile

Re: Severe Pain on one side

  • I had something similar, pains really bad on my right side (it still bothers me) I tore (or injured, he didn't specify) a muscle after my surgery.

Also, my spinal was misplaced.  It never worked, but my back hurts and is really stiff, all the time.

  • I had this with my second c-section.  It started about 5-7 days after.  It was off to one side and it would burn and almost feel like something was ripping.  I have endometriosis so I am not sure if it was scar tissue, endo or something pulling or just things shifting but there were a few times over the course of a week that I would get it and it would stop me in my tracks and I would have to lay down.  It did go away so good luck!

  • I also had this and the home health nurse just happen to be doing follow up appointment.  She told me that it is usually from when the doctor puches really hard on your stomach to "pop" the baby out.  She asked me if the doctor was standing on the same side that was hurting, and he was.  She said it is from the trauma of the delivery.  It took about 2 weeks to go away.  My abdominal binder helped support the area until it felt better.
  • Thanks ladies.  Saturday night I sneezed and I believe it tore the last stitch which gave me huge pain relief, once the pain of that last stitch subsided.  The pain was on the same side as my OB was standing as well, he credited the pain to where the stitches were tied off and got hung up on something...

I'm still sore at the incision sight, but that horrible pain is gone, Thank God!

    Thanks!  Smile
