Anyone have experience with Mini-cribs?

The room for the future bebe is on the small side, with no closets, so we have to maximize and plan the space pretty carefully. Has anyone used a mini-crib? some quick reading looks like it varies greatly on the crib (some are ment to be portable/foldable)..Im also a bit worried that it won't last until we're ready to transition to a toddler bed.

  • Like a Pack N Play?  DS slept in one until he was about 18 months.  He was too big after that. If your kid can handle a toddler bed at that age, you should be fine.

  • I would say they may be ok for the first year - 18 months...then I'd transition before they start climbing out.  DD transitioned to her big girl bed at 20 months.

  • At 40 inches, you should be fine.  I would just check the safety rating of them in Baby Bargains to make sure the brand you are looking at has a decent rating.

  • We used a portable crib with DD (it wasn't as cute as the one you linked). She climbed over at about 18 months so she went into a toddler bed then. I'm not sure how long it would have taken her to out grow it had she not learned to jump ship so early.

  • I don't have experience with mini-crib but I do have experience with a climber.  DS started climbing out of his crib at about 18 months but like the one you linked the back is taller.  We flipped it and he still can't climb out.

  • We have THIS  mini crib for Grace.  I love the extra storage and changing table attached.  She hasn't tried climbing out yet but the crib lowers pretty far.  We have one more step left to lower it yet and she's 12 months.

  • we used the Delta Riley Mini crib from BRU in our room until we put him in his big crib...it also converts to a twin bed. Still have it set up in our room although he doesnt use it anymore. very strudy. as long as the kid fits in it i dont see a big deal with using it until its time for a big bed
