pg ? - what really helped w/your nausea?

my friend is in her 1st trimester and going through the lovely 1st tri.

what things really worked for you? do sea bands really work?

Re: pg ? - what really helped w/your nausea?

  • I had all-day everyday nausea from about 5wks to 16wks or so, and the only thing I found that worked for me was eating protein constantly.  I started the day by choking down a Zone Bar b/c it had 14g of protein in it, and from there I focused on snacks like beef jerky, nuts, PB, cheese, etc. every hour or so.  I just had to make sure I stayed ahead of the nausea, and in the worst case situations, I'd eat carbs and then protein b/c the carbs went down easier, helped in the short-term, and helped me feel good enough to choke down some protein.  It got me though it though.

  • Protein, lots of protein.  I ate a lot of chicken sandwiches.

  • Zofran and constant food.

  • Food.  I thought the sea bands did nothing until I took them off one night before bed and almost threw up.  It doesn't hurt to try them.

  • i swore the sea bands worked but i think i just made myself believe they did....i tried everything tho....ginger (which any kind of ginger thing makes me sick to this day!!), crackers, FOOD, vitamin B--i think thats the one??

it should pass soon, but easier said than done!

  • I always made sure that I had something in my stomach and I ate really light foods nothing to heavy.
  • small meals, heavy on the protein. ?when it was really bad i went with smoothies (not?citrus, too acidic). ?avoided foods high in iron like spinach, cheerios, and belly bars.
  • Getting plenty to eat and drinking lots and lots of ice water with lemon.

  • Peppermint tea every morning.  Mild food the rest of the day.
  • nothing =( whining helped a little I guess. I had it the entire pregnancy until the day I delivered. It wasn't bad enough to get meds for but it was continuous torture.

  • Lemon water or lemon candy, chewing gum, peppermints, lots of ice water.
  • I used the sea bands because I got really car sick and they made me feel better but not great. I had to go on Zofran because I couldn't hold more than broth and noodles down until about 22 weeks. I just ate a lot of broth with noodles, I added some veggies when I felt good. Fudge bars and I did carnation instant breakfast shakes to help get something in.

  • I ate a lot of small meals, and my mom ended up getting me these sour drops at the end of my 1st tri that helped a lot. I think that they were called Preggie Pops or something weird like that- it was apple, raspberry, lemon, and orange (all sour)- they were similar to sour apple Jolly Ranchers. They helped so much with the nausea.
  • Most anything sour.  I always had a pack of sourbreakers with me (made by ice breakers)--just sugar free sour candy, and it worked like a charm every time.

  • Emetrol and Zofran,
  • A combination of things: sea band bracelets, 1/2 tablet of unisom every night, potatoes, potato chips, and saltine crackers.  Mostly the unisom because it would knock me out to sleep.
