Disposable Diaper poll

I bought a bunch of Costco diapers (size 1-2) when I was pregnant b/c they were on sale and I had a coupon. Im noticing though, that LO keeps getting blow out diapers up the back.  I recently tried pampers swaddlers size 1 and haven't had a blow out yet. Do others have this problem with Costco diapers? Can you recommend a brand that has worked for you?  TIA

Re: Disposable Diaper poll

  • As DS was transitioning from newborn to size 1 Huggies little snugglers were better because they seem a little smaller, but now that he is a true size 1 we prefer Pampers Swaddlers.

  • Huggies always leaked for us, so I prefer Pampers. Luvs seems to be a bargain brand that works pretty well. With that said, I am a big believer in different brands work well for different kiddos.

  • Babies R Us sells their own brand, and we really like them. Target's are alright, but I like BRU over Target brand.

LO is too big for pampers size 1's. but the BRU's are still fitting great. pretty soon though he'll grow out of the BRU 1's and I think we'll get a better fit out of pampers 2's until he grows a little more and is just the right size for the BRU 2's. (i guess what i'm trying to say is BRU's are great, but are a tad bigger than pampers.)

  • Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive. DS is still in the NB size. Since we've had him, we have only had 3 blowouts. I don't even think it was the diaper's fault that it happened.

  • Pampers swaddlers sensitive, the regular seem to give him a diaper rash.

  • I like 7th Generation and Pampers Swaddlers.  I think the occasional blowout is o be expected no matter which brand you choose but if it happens all the time you either need to change the diaper more frequently, go up a size, or just keep trying different brands until you find the one that works best.

  • Huggies Pure and Natural - love the softness, haven't had any rashes or other irritation issues, and the only blow outs have been from when we needed to move up a size, or when she held it in all day and then let it go at once (at that time she was normally pooping 4x per day, so there was a lot for one little diaper to contain!)

  • Started with Pampers Swaddlers then switched over to Pampers Cruisers at size 3 and never had any problems.

  • We love Luvs(size 1). I can't tell you how many diapers that i have changed that I was shocked weren't blowouts. I can't believe how much they can contain. And they are a bargain diaper. I have had awful luck with Pampers (especially swaddlers new baby). We used Pampers for newborn sizes for about 6 weeks becuase we had so many of them, but we had a lot of leaks from day one. However, like someone mentioned, I am also a true believer that different diapers work for different babies.

    He leaked in Pampers.

We bought a jumbo sized pack to try out before comitting to a larger case pack.

  • We use Pampers swaddlers and love them!  We tried Huggies and they just weren't for us :)  I had a coupon for Babies R Us brand diapers so I got some size 1s the otherday, but I have yet to try them.
  • I CD, but we are going to go on a trip and will have to use disposables.  A lot of the CD gals said they liked Luvs.  That is saying a lot because CDs contain EVERYTHING.  So, for a CD mama to like Luvs must mean they contain messes well.

  • What I've found with my kids is that in the smaller sizes, Pampers worked great for my boys but Huggies was better for my girl.  Once they were in a size three or bigger I switched to Luvs with no issues.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • We use pampers swaddlers for the most part.  I had a pack of newborn huggies which worked well for transitioning from pampers NB to size 1.  I actually don't mind the huggies.  We got a ton of diapers all sizes all brands we will use up whatever we have. Thank you friends and family for saving us a small fourtune.

  • Pampers Swaddlers here. The only blow-outs we've had were random/our fault. We've tried Huggies but they leaked for us and didn't seem like they would be comfortable.
  • My babe is still little, so we're still trying out diapers.  However, I just opened a box of Kirkland diapers from Costco, and we haven't had any blow outs so far.  The Pampers and Huggies Lil Snugglers worked well for us, too.

  • We haven't had too many issues with Huggies Little Snugglers size 1 - sometimes pee will leak, but it's usually because he's had the diaper on too long or we didn't put it on quite right. We've had little bits of poo come out the legs, but only when it wasn't on right. Then again, we really haven't had any real blowouts...which will probably change today since I just typed that :-)

Someone gave me some Seventh Generation size one, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked them, so I might try those again when my Huggies are gone. Again, though, we never had a blowout in them.

  • We're about 50% cloth and 50% disposable.  We tried the Costco diapers and they sucked!  LO outgrew them when he was 12 lbs even though they were supposed to fit until 15 lbs.  We use pampers swaddlers when he's not in cloth.

  • I voted for Huggies (Little Snugglers) since that's what we usually use but Huggies or Pampers both have worked well for LO's massive diapers

  • When we use disposables we use huggies little movers.  We tried pampers when she was newborn and we hated them.  They blew out way too often, didn't fit as tight as huggies and were not as soft, plus the tabs broke way to easy.  We have had maybe 2 blowouts with huggies (and none with our cloth) and much prefer the huggies to anything else we have used disposable wise.

    Pretty much the same here...

  • As DS has gotten bigger and poops are more forceful, he's blown out of Huggies and Pampers swaddlers. We're on to Target's brand and they've done a great job of containing him, but their size 1's are slightly bigger than the pampers ones.

  • We've been doing well in the Walmart brand and Target brand diapers. We're planning to CD in the near future, so we're not going long term with the disposables.

  • Used Swaddlers with DS until he outgrew them at 5 months and then 7th generation. We are back to Swaddlers with this baby now and will use 7th generation again once she is out of Swaddlers.

  • We love Seventh Generation.  We tried Huggies and Pampers at the beginning, but have now settled on Seventh Generation.  He's six weeks today and still wearing NB size.
  • We bought each brand and ended up exchanging them all for Luvs. They keep everything inside and fit LO really well. I tried Huggies Lil Snugglers at first, but the umbilical cord cutout (which I thought was a good idea) was too low so DS kept peeing on us/everyone who held him!

Luvs are pretty cheap too- they only sell newborn size in a bag at Walmart, but it's $6.97 for 38 of them. Might as well give them a shot!
