We did IVF and transferred two embryos. We went to our first ultrasound last week when I was 6 weeks 3 days. We saw one sac with a baby and a heartbeat. THere was a second sac that looked like it had split into two. The doctor acknowledged it, but wouldn't answer questions or give us hope that it was viable. This was not my regular doctor. My regular doctor was out of town last week. We'll see the regular doctor tomorrow.
Anyone have anything similar happen? What happened? Any hope for the other baby (ies)?
Re: Second ultrasound tomorrow, question
We transferred 2 embryos and had 2 sacs on u/s in the beginning, but the one sac was always smaller and never developed properly. The fetal pole in the one sac never grew. RE said referred to it as a "vanishing twin syndrome." I think you could still see the smaller empty sac at 12 weeks on u/s but by 16 weeks, it had reasborbed.
Good luck! There are some ladies who had better outcomes.
