What do you guys think? Our first daughters name is Samantha and we call her Sam. Do you think Charley is too boyish? We could have her birth name as Charlotte and we nickname her Charley.
I don't like Charlie/Charley for a boy, much less for a girl. I'm also very over Charlotte, though I'd prefer it as a formal name for Charley so she could choose something more professional sounding later.
Please don't. Charlotte is a perfectly nice, traditional girl's name. It doesn't need a nickname, let alone a traditionally boy's nickname.
I hate the thought of my Charlie being teased someday for having what will be perceived as a girl's name. So many nice boy names have been co-opted by the girls.. it was hard enough coming up with a decent traditional name in the first place.

My daughter is Charlotte and we call her Charley. I hear all the time how much people love the name and it's so fitting for her. She's an over the top girlie girl. I love it.
I must pay too much attention to celebrity gossip. When I think of those two names together I think of Tiger and Elin Woods' kids names. Also, I think of Charlie Sheen and his daughter Sam. They both bring negative associations to the names for me.
Sorry!
But you already have a daughter named Samantha so you have your own beautiful associations with the name. I think Samantha and Charlotte is a nice sibset. NMS...but they flow nicely together. And I don't think Charley is a bad nn.

I don't like it unless it's a nickname Charlotte, and I do like the name Charlotte! But I would be hesitant about naming my child Charlotte when I already had a daughter named Samantha. The first thing that jumped in to my mind was "Where are Carrie and Miranda?".... too much of a sex and the city moment for me.
lol Wow. Never even thought about that!

I love Charlotte and really dislike Charley for a girl. I do think Charley/Charlie is completely boyish, and I'm not a fan of it for a girl.
True or not, whenever I see a group of sisters that all have boys names, it makes me think the parents wanted a son. Sam for Samantha is also boyish, so I would avoid using a boy's name for your other daughter(s).

I jumped right to the Sex and City, too.
Also, I have a niece who is Charlotte. My BIL and SIL insist everyone call her Charlee, but it just doesn't fit. Charlotte is a beautiful name, and I think shortening to Charlee takes away from the name.

My mind went immediately to SATC too. This sets up one daughter to be the good one and the other to be ... the bad one.
