Double stroller help..ugh

So we got a Graco Duo Glide double stroller at our baby shower with our carseats. We used the heck out of it for several months and it was ok. I have a Chevy HHR which has a huge trunk, but it was still a tight fit and a pain to throw in the back. A few months ago a wheel came off. We ordered and replaced the piece that fell off and it was fine, for a week. Since then it has happened four more times and I refuse to put anymore money into something that I hate.

We went stroller hunting today and I would find one I liked and then read the reviews online and go to the next one. Most are just huge and would never fit anywhere. Others seem cheaper made then our graco one. We don't have a great selection in our area so i am going to have to order one online. Please help! I am a bit overwhelmed with everything the internet has to offer! TIA

  • I love our Maclaren Twin Techno Triumph SBS stroller. It's super lightweight and fits through all doorways. It has decent amount of storage (baskets under each seat plus pockets with flaps on the seat backs). I got mine gently used from a MoM member who was selling hers. The retail high but I paid less than $100 for it. Worth every penny. You could check CL in your area and see if any are available?

  • We have a Bumbleride Indie Twin (It is a SBS) and really like it.  It is lightweight and has a huge basket underneath.

Oh, and I forgot to add...It is borrowed.  I completely second the idea of looking for a gently used stroller.  The really lightweight ones are sooooo pricey!

  • We have the Kolkraft contours (used when they were infants and haven't use in a LONG time).  I want to sell it.  We also have our Bob.  Love it.  We also recently flew w/ the kids for the first time and bought two cheap umbrella strollers and we each pushed one.  It was great and we've used them other places as well.  If I could afford another stroller I'd get the citi mini or city micro.  But I do love our Bob as well.  We didn't have a great selection in our town as well.  I agree with other posters, look online at Craigslist etc.  We ended up finding an on-line store The Baby Stroller Shoppe that has a small storefront near us and they gave us a great deal on our Bob.  GL!
  • I think the most important thing is to determine if you like SBS or tandem.  Once you decide which one you like then you can look at the options.  I like tandem and have a Baby Jogger City Select.  We can put my older DD in it, use it as a single when I have just one child with me, and its super easy to maneuver.  When I was looking at SBS I was going to get the Maclaren Twin Triumph... the only downside was tiny baskets underneath, but it folds up great, steers great, and is lightweight!
  • We love our Baby Jogger City Mini double! We've had it for 2.5 years and are still very happy with it. This site provides a good, thorough review of it that covers everything I'd want to mention:

They City Micro is fairly similar (doesn't recline all the way; smaller sunshades) but half the price if you want to go that route.

  • Baby Jogger City Select is an excellent, versatile stroller. Pricey brand new, but you can always check Craigslist for one

The Bumbleride Indie Twin is a great stroller, but it is NOT lightweight at all (as a PP said it is).

Maclarens doubles are nice and light, but the wheels aren't great for outdoor terrain. It would be excellent if you are looking for an stroller to be used mostly indoors and on smoothly paved surfaces (shopping, etc).

  • I've heard Chicco's double stroller/carseats are great.

I want the Bugaboo Donkey Double Stroller. I'm not even sure if it's available yet in the US, and it's definitely out of my budget, but I still want it. I think it's about $1500. Why would someone name a stroller "donkey"? Because anyone who pays that much for a stroller is an a$$??
