My dd CAN NOT STAND tummy time. As soon as we lay her down on her tummy she looks at us with this sad expression, pokes out her lower lip and starts to wail. She immediately gets frustrated and it's painful to watch. I can't let it go on for more than a few minutes before I pick her up. I'm sure I'm not helping the situation at all. Is there anything that you all do to make it more enjoyable for your LOs?

Re: Anyone else's LO hate "tummy time"?
Yes. Hates it. Learned to roll over solely to get out of it. Screams/cries/drools/sucks hands frantically all in an attempt to stop the madness.
Our pedi said, "just keep trying, they don't need a lot of practice, but they do need practice". He gets about 10-15 mins a day, broken up into whatever he'll stand.

My LO hates it too. Usually I just give in because she immediately cries. Today, I tried to let her cry for a minute on her tummy. It was soo pitiful. She will do tummy time on our chests though and will prop up on her arms that way.
I have no idea what to do to make it more enjoyable...I've tried toys, singing, etc. She just hates it so much!
Marchbride- I was wondering if tummy time on our chests was okay as well. She's great at that but that tummy time...she wants no parts of it. lol.
Katie- I remember you mentioning how much Gabe hates tummy time. lol. Maybe Sydney will learn to roll over in an attempt to escape as well.
We fail about tummy time. 10-15 minutes is good! I'm kinda mad at myself for not pushing it more, but we really haven't done it much at all in the past and she's almost 3 months old! We do put her on our chests all the time, but I should have probably been making her do tummy time more. It's just so pitiful.
Our pedi said tummy time on chests counts as tummy time and it is a perfectly respectable alternative to the floor, as is propping on a boppy or rolled blanket.
Gabe has a flat spot on his head because of his lack of tummy time, so we are pushing it now. He sleeps long stretches and prefers the right side. So now we have to prop him to his left side when he sleeps. It's kind of a mess. We've had to work up to 10-15 mins. We do it like 3-5 times a day to get that many minutes.

Our pedi also said laying on our chests is just as effective for "tummy time" as laying on the floor, etc. Our LO gets all his tummy time that way :c)
This. DD is quite happy doing tummy time in my chest, but if I try putting her on her mat or on the bed, forget it. I haven't figured out how to make it more enjoyable for her. Just wanted to say you are definitely not alone.
We're averaging about 5min a day.
For the most part, she's a happy baby....but man...do tummy time and it's like I'm slowly stabbing her with red hot pokers. I wouldn't be surprised if the neighbors call CPS based on the cried she emits during tummy time.
Hence the "5 min/day"....

That's all exactly like Jake. He has a flat spot on the right side of the back of his head because he favors that side when he sleeps. The pedi said to let him nap during the day propped in his swing or somewhere else to relieve some of the pressure on that spot. He hates tummy time as well. He doesn't have too much of a problem with it on our chests, but anywhere else he cries. He said he wants him to do an hr a day of tummy time (collectively) so we're working up to that. But it's hard.
