Can we quit pt-ing now?

So as you know, I did the 3 day pting, but only for daytime and told her the diapers are only for sleeping.  She is still in the crib, so obviously can not go pee at night on her own.  And we would rather she just keep sleeping anyway.  She has done remarkably well with pt-ing during the day.  I really am just shocked at how happy she is going on the potty and how it worked.  But, now she has started to wake up at night and wants to go potty.  She really isn't ready for overnight training bc she still has a super full diaper.  Once she is up, we can't get her back down.  I'm so tired.  Is there a way to un-potty train her?  We would rather just go back to diapers.  Or is this just a phase that she will get past and go back to sleeping?  Or we could switch to a toddler bed, but she still needs help getting undressed for going potty and likes to dump the bowl herself and will spill if we don't help her.

Re: Can we quit pt-ing now?

  • This has been my biggest challenge with Brianna, and why I kept trying to slow/stop her own self potty training.  We put her to bed and she screams to go potty.  Then she wakes screaming for the potty at night too, then doesn't go back to sleep easily.  We now carry her to the potty, set her on the toilet, and carry her back to her room.  She is not allowed to walk or do anything by herself at night except wipe.  It has helped a  bit.  Our other issue is needing to use the potty everywhere.  We pass by three bathrooms between the front door and Tyler's classroom.  She wants to use every single one but I have a one bathroom rule, I have to carrying her out of the school, past all the classrooms (it is an old high school so sounds carry) kicking and screaming POTTY!  PEE!   Then she fights me in the car to get in her seat because she wants to go play in the bathrooms in the school.  I have to climb in the car and hold her down in the seat with my knee while I buckle her in.  Then I have to stop the car 4 or 5  times to rebuckle her because she undoes the buckles.  All the while still screaming about the potty.  It takes me an hour to get home when it should only take 10 minutes :-(  Road trips don't prove to be any better.  Now we have two kids who claim to need to use the potty every time they get bored, when we say no to Bri she screams and unbuckles her seatbelt, which stresses out Tyler so he screams, undoes his carseat and starts hitting and kicking Bri.  So we have to pull over, calm them down, rebuckle.  Repeat.

  • I hear ya! Justin has a little alarm clock in his head set for a midnight pee. It was everyday for like 2 weeks but has stopped the last 2 days. I know some moms do a no-drinks after a certain time. Maybe just give her a smaller cup/drink? Sometimes I miss diaper days! I don't think you should go back, I'm sorry. It would be so confusing- there were nights when J had to poop and would get up like 3x to try and I'd beg him to just poop in his diaper and he refused, "diapers are for babies momma".

Potty training is SO much harder on the mom than the LO in my opinion :(

  • Ian hasn't done it every night, but it seems when he does, it's 2 or 3 times, and I feel like I have a newborn again! I just figure that the more pee that goes in the potty, the less in his pull-up, or worse, the bed. Most times he goes right back to sleep, but if it's closer to morning, he tries to stay up. We just tell him that it's still night time, and Mommy and Daddy are going back to sleep. Sometimes he cries and complains, but we just let him go.
  • We haven't had this problem yet, but Avery is now having accidents constantly.  And she knows that she's peeing b/c she'll say it right before she does it, but doesnt make any attempt to get to the bathroom. Its very frustrating (she peed in the car on the way home today) and some days I want to put her back in diapers, but I know that'll just confuse her more and we'd have to start back at square one.....
