If you don't have a high chair, what do you use?

We don't have a lot of space where we are, so I am looking to avoid buying a big, bulky high chair. However, I do need something for my daughter for when she eats.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I absolutely love our Fisher price space saving high chair. We are in an apartment. It uses one of your own chairs and just straps on easily. We got it for $35 during the Black Friday sale at Toys R Us last year.

How would you use the bumbo as a high chair? It doesn't attach to the chair, wouldn't you be nervous about it not being secure?

We have a high chair but we just got back from vacation and we used the Bumbo. I just put it in the chair and it worked fine.

We have the same thing. I like that it straps right to one of our dining chairs and when she is a little bigger she can still sit in it pushed up to the table!

We have this too and love that it doesn't take up any extra space, since we already have plenty of dining room chairs. We've been putting DS in it for almost a month now so that I can supervise him easily while I eat.

This is what we have too, we haven't used it yet, but I love that it just sits on one of our unused dining room chairs until we do need to start using it.

Please don't use your Bumbo on a table. They are not made for that and it is unsafe (if you look on Bumbo's site they even sell a stand to safely put it in so you can use it as a high chair). At almost 4m my DS flails back in his, and we keep it on the ground at all times. It is only made to go up to 22 pounds so you will need a real seat eventually.

We have also have the FP Space Saving High Chair and it works great. I used it for DD and plan to use it for DS. I am sure you can even find one on Craigslist used.

ETA: This is from Bumbo:

               Never use on any elevated surface.
                 Never use on a raised surface.
              Never use as a car seat or bath seat.
               Designed for floor level use only.
                Never leave your baby unattended
               as the seat is not designed to be

Yes. I'm going to stick my kid in her bumbo on the edge of a table (it only has 2 legs, btw) and walk away leaving her unsupervised. Oh and she's 40 pounds, is that over the weight limit?

I try to assume most of us are competent mothers. I have the Bumbo so I obviously know their safety recommendations. I have assessed the situation and made the decision that as long as she fits, as long as I'm watching, and as long as the chair is on a wide, stable surface, no one is going to get hurt. There are dangers everywhere but I think this is one that is ridiculous to get up on a lectern about.

Lol absolutely NOT. We are on the second floor, so I can't put it on the ground either because it's elevated.

I really don't think I need to "get over myself'."

Obviously you are free to do what you want with your own child. But the safety warning is there for a reason. Personally I would not feel safe using it on a table or counter top, or even a chair. I'm sure you are all competent mothers, but it just takes a split second for that thing to topple, not worth the risk to me.

We use the bumbo with the tray or a seat that attaches to the table....I can't remember what the brand is. I like it a lot though! I wouldn't trust it though if you don't have a heavy solid table (we have a huge solid oak table)

Im not meaning to be snarky, just sayin' as long as you use common sense {Not leaving your baby unsupervised, not tetering on the edge of the countertop...} your baby should be just fine.

If you have an extra chair at your table- you could use the Eddie Bauer pop-up travel chair, it just straps on

If you dont- we have a chair that clips on to the table made by Chicco- {not sure of the name} my DD isn't using it yet, but we have it up and seems very stable & secure.

We also use the Bumbo on our kitchen table. I see no problem with it. Some people just freak out about every little thing.
