twin names - be honest

H and I are expecting twins in March.  We decided that each of us would get a "first pick" with one of the names.  Girls lead to Willow and Calista.  For boys, it turned out Micah and Mason.

Is it too "matchy" and corny to have twins with the same first letter?  DS#1 is Kai.

    I usually hate twins with any type of "matchy" names - but Micah & Mason are different enough that I think it actually works.  Big Smile

    I think they're all great choices! I don't think Micah & Mason are too matchy at all.

    I don't think the M&M sounds real matchy but if you're calling out for your kids (which is how I usually think about it - Mason put that down!) I think it's too similar and just verbally you get mixed up.  I would just do all different sounds.  No rhyming and no initial sounds.  But that's just me.

    I like your girls pair!

    I tend to think Corny, but Micah and Mason work IMO. :)

    I usually don't think names with the same first letter sound bad/corny.  I know lots of families that name all of their children using the same first letter...Now, if your names were 'rhyme-ey' (lacey & dacey), or incredibly similar (for example taylor & tyler)...I would think 'corny'.  But it's what some people like and if you like your names, go for them!

    I like the girls names ....especially Willow

    I'll disagree with everyone else and say that Micah and Mason are too matchy for my taste for twins.

    what if it is a b/g twin sert?

    I wouldn't do Mason and Micah. They both start with the same letter and have the same number of syllables--that's matchy enough for me. I think people will assume you did it on purpose to be cute.

    I totally agree with you but I think Micah and Mason are different enough so you are okay. Now, if you said something like Mason and Jason, I would have said NOO!!!

    I love both sets of names :) Micah and Mason aren't too matchy. They are different enough in my opinion to work GL!

    I personally like alliteration. The names are different enough in style that I almost didn't even notice they both started with M's.

    Curious, do you know they're identical and therefore the same sex? What if it's one of each?

    I have done a bit of research on twins in psychology and would not give them both M names if it were me. Because they're already likely to be 'the twins' to so many people and will have to work hard to be seen as two separate, individual people, I would do them a favor and give them less similar names. They're not doomed if you use those names, I just wouldn't give them anything else in common because they will be sharing enough.

    I actually think it's cute when twins have matching names. Nothing too matching (like Kayla and Kyla), but I think that Micah and Mason are adorable together. I think it's odd when twins' names are so completely different from one another.
