We are attending a birthday party for 3 year old tomorrow and have no idea what to get him. We asked the parents what he is in to and what he likes to play with, and they weren't very helpful. Any ideas for a gift would be wonderful! Thanks!
Play food is great -- M&D had a grilling set that was adorable. If the boy is into cars and trucks, those are always an easy buy and good gift. A game like The Ladybug game (appeals to boys and girls) which is easy and entertaining for 3YOs. Books are a safe bet too (Interrupting Chicken, Mo Willems books, Little Critter).
DD loved the Goodnight Moon game right around 3. It's a matching game. I like getting consumable stuff, like WikiStix, Play Foam, Play Dough (which we have a ton of), craft supplies. Great to have and use, but won't sit in a toy room or corner til a parent has to bag it and take it to Good Will.
Games are great because there are a lot of board games that are for ages 3+. We've been going to a lot of 4 year old parties lately for DD's friends and I've gotten a lot of cars (matchbox, etc) for the boys. They love them and kids never seem to think they have too many.

Re: Birthday present for a 3 year old?
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
The memory game has been the gift we've been giving 3 year olds. They've all loved it and it's affordable.
