S/O MrsWhite's post-Tattoos

MrsWhite's post got me thinking, I've always liked tattoos and planned on having one or two.  Well I'm 28 and tattoo-less.  But I'm thankful I don't have what I would have gotten when I was 18.  DH has a lot, I don't know how many anymore, maybe 10 or 12, but they're all coverable.  And the tattoo he did get when he was 18, he covered with another one.

I wanted to get J's handprint on the inside of my wrist but we couldn't ever get her to open her hands when she was little.  DH has her footprints and a song on his back.  It takes up most of his back.  It's nice but I wouldn't want anything that big. It's neat too because her feet were so little compared to now.  I guess maybe I could do one of her footprints on my foot, and the new baby's foot on my other one, but I've heard feet are one of the worst places to get tattoed.

Anyway, any other Mommie tattoos or regular tattoos out there?  Or do your DH's have them?

  • I always wanted one but never have gotten one-and I'm thankful I didnt get what I had wanted to get at 18 ....I was more into piercings and I'm still dying to get my lip pierced (although DH says its gross looking)

B/c of my c-section I had to take out my piercing and it closed up (eyebrow) - I am thinking of re-piercing my tongue...I had to take it out when I was a retail mngr- but now that I stay home

DH doesnt have anything but he keeps saying he wants to get a tattoo (I'll believe it when I see it though...)

  • I don't have any.  I feel the same way - I would kinda like one but have just never came up with something I want 100%.  If I do get one, it would certainly revolve around my kids.

DH has a pretty cool one he got shortly after dd was born.  It is a celtic (is that the word?) cross with his family crest in the midde (Basically looks like a yellow dragon) and has the initials of dd and his sister that died.  I am sure he will add ds's initials shortly after he is born.

You can kinda see it here on his arm.  It ended up a lot bigger than he was originally describing to me, but I guess that was so the details of the family crest could be seen.

  • When my parents got divorced my mom and I both got butterfly tattoos, mine is on my hip- that was when I was 15 (chalked my ID to get it)

When I was 18 I got a tramp stamp (hangs head in shame) of daisies, butterflies and vines... that is actually still really pretty it's just big.

When DH and I moved back from Hawaii (I was 22) we got matching "honu" (Hawaiian word for sea turtle) symbols on our right feet.

Then last night I got my 3 hearts :)

  • Nope - DH and I are tattooless. He hates them, actually and would be pretty mad at me if I got one. I'm kind of so-so on them. I'm afraid of looking trashy and since my weight fluctuates so much it would probably be all deformed in no time, haha!!
  • i have a sun and moon on my back. I got it the day before I graduated college.  I never see it and forget that I have it.  I would love to get something to symbolize the kids.  I really like white ink and thought about their initials on the inside of my wrist.

dh doesn't have any even though I asked him to get a wedding ring tatooed on his ring finger.  He vetoed that

  • I have 12 tattoos, all of them have a special meaning to me. I started when i was 18 and finished when i was 22. I am only 23, but a lot has happened to me. I lost my mom when i was 21 and i found a card that she gave me and my artist was able to tattoo my moms hand writing on my wrist so it says Mommy and and angel wing under my wrist. I also got a matching tattoo with my mom of dragonflies and a flower on my foot and once she passed i added an another dragonfly, flying away with a halo, her years are also within the tattoo. on my other foot i have a dolphin jumping through the waves and a hidden message that says Daddy. These are just some of what i have but they these all have special meaning. My finance doesnt have any and doesnt like them but he doesnt mind that i have them because he knows they all have a special meaning. I guess it depends on what you want and what meaning it has.

  • I have one that I got when I was 18, a butterfly on my hip.   DH had 3 when we got married, then added a fourth shortly after joining the military.  He's currently in the process of covering the first tattoo he got with something military related (along with DD's name).  I have thought about getting another for my DD & my grandmother, but pain & I don't mix and I can still remember how much the first hurt (although, it may hurt less now that i've experienced labor - hmmm)
  • DH- zero

    Me two (so far)

Italy- yes the whole country- colored with the Italian flag colors inside on my waist- to the right of the tramp stamp area- got it when i was 21 after spending a semester in Italy

a snowflake, my left shoulder, it's actually designed from actual phorographs of two snowflakes

like i said in the MrsWhite's post i'd love a third but i am not a fan of photo tats, feet or hands, and getting something like a flower or name & date in honor of M isn't my style either. i have thought of getting a peanut- my nickname for him b/c he was to small, but i haven't decided on a where yet either. since my other two really don't show, i'm toying with the idea of having my 3rd show somewhere, maybe ankle/foot or wrist

  • I have two -

    1. Is of the Eiffel Tower on my left side - its where DH proposed, and I love that tattoo. This was done when I was 26

    2. Is the phrase "she flies with her own wings" in Latin ("Alis volat propiis"), on the side of my left foot... My sis and I have matching tattoos (which I guess is ironic - because the tattoos say the same thing - which I guess doesnt necessarily mean that we fly with our OWN wings - whatever). I didnt think it hurt that bad - my sis thought it hurt the most of all her tattoos (she has several). This was done when I was 25.

  • When Beyonce first came out with her "Halo" song in 2009, we had just suffered a miscarriage. Some of those lyrics just touched me. So I decided to get a tattoo with those lyrics. I have small angel wings with the saying "standing in the light of your halo, I have my angel now" with each date of our miscarriages. It's not huge but I have it on my back, no one has ever seen it except for maybe my Doctor and of course DH.

I don't remember it hurting that bad. Some places down by my hip bone hurt but the rest just was more annoying. Scratching a sunburn is a good analogy.

  • No tattoos here, just has never been something that I have wanted.  I have gotten some Henna tattos and I am over them by the time that they wash off, so I am glad that I never got a permanent one.  DH does not have any.

  • I have 4. One on my hip, two on my back, and one on my ribcage. Honestly, the one on my ribcage was the only one that "really" hurt. You can't see any of them unless I want you to.

I don't regret any and have some great memories from getting them, right meryltheresa!?

  • I have one on my back of a gerber daisy.  they are my favorite!  i was so scared to get it so i brought along two friends.  One of the *cough* akurosky* decided to talk the artists ear off so he kept starting and stopping.    at least she learned about tatoos that day.  :)  dh has 5.  some i like and one makes me laugh!
