M actually had WCM a few times before he turned one. I introduced it by mixing it with BM but he liked it plain and had no reaction. It was a very easy transition for him.
We also had an easy transition. DS didn't have any problems drinking the milk, so we just went for it cold turkey. He drinks 8oz when he wakes up and 8oz before he goes to bed. We switched him right when he turned 1.
Did you warm up the WCM, or give it to them cold? And did you use a bottle, or switch to a sippy?
Sorry for all the questions!
We got the ok from the pedi just shy of the 1 yr mark. We introduced it in the morning just in case they didn't tolerate it well and I would mix a ratio of WCM & formula in their sippy cups (was also trying to transition away from bottles at the same time). As they tolerated it more I upped the milk and mixed less formula until they were taking mostly WCM. I can't remember if I warmed up the milk but thinking I didn't.
DD didn't take well to a sippy (she didn't take a bottle until 10 months), so we used straw cups exclusively with WCM. It was a tough transition for 3 days or so but I have found with many things, cold turkey was the only approach that worked for her. I am really glad we skipped sippies and went straight to straw cups--made life easier down the road.
I started supplementing with it at about 12 months because we knew I was going to wean (ouchie boobies) and by 14 months he was drinking milk like it was going out of style.

We actually started at 11 months and did a gradual transition, 1/4 WCM-1/2 WCM ect. Worked just fine. Both my boys were on WCM completely a week prior to 12 months.
I started a little after 12mo but she would not touch the stuff no matter what I tried. I was ok with that because I was still BFing but when we weaned at 20mo-ish I wanted her to start having milk. Now she loves it and can't get enough, but we wasted a lot of milk in the process. What finally worked was mixing in a little of that Horizon vanilla milk with the regular stuff and gradually reducing it until it was just plain milk. She also wasn't a fan of WCM so we just went straight to 2%. Hopefully D will have an easier transition than Kyva did but in case he doesn't take to it those are a couple of things you can try.

We tried a couple of times around 11 months. There was no reaction so we stopped buying formula and went cold turkey with cold milk a week or two before DD's first bday. I think we didn't have any problems because we transitioned with a bottle. About a 14/15 months we transitioned off the bottle to sippy cups.

I was actually giving increased calorie formula so I went to toddler formula until about 18 months and then I switched to Goat's milk. I have read a lot about CM and GM and I feel it is healthier. I drink soy milk myself and was off dairy for about 10 years before I got pregnant so this is not a new issue for me, I just don't think cow's milk is good for humans. Goat's milk is very expensive though.

We did (and still do) warm up the milk, and he takes it in a sippy.
