One of the baby's kidney's fluid shot up considerably, so we are now in hydronephrosis territory. It was consistent for weeks and weeks, so I don't understand how it's getting worse instead of better. On the bright side, AFI is great and everything looks okay otherwise. MFM was kinda meh, though they are watching it, but based on my research, it's less likely this is physiological, and more likely that it is pathological.
I am just worried about loss of kidney function. Which we won't know until he's born. I just wished I could trade places with him and it was my stupid kidneys. I can handle it, but it breaks my heart that he will come into this world and have to go through a bunch of medical tests and procedures from the very beginning.
I could really use some good thoughts in the next few weeks that this dilation decreases. Oh, and because I have to AW my child, I am growing a little chunky monkey. He is now 4lbs13oz!
Re: Didn't get such great news yesterday
i'm so sorry to hear that. sending lots of good thoughts your way that this clears up.

I am so sorry to hear this. Just wanted to let you know that a friend's DD has this. It was looking just like what you described. She was a wreck. Especially not knowing whether or not her LO was going to have to need surgery to correct this or what the outcome would/could be. I just wanted to give you a bit of hope. Her DD did not have to get surgery. She is on daily medication (just 1) that she must take to keep any risk of infection (pretty sure that is what it is for) down. She does worry with any little spike in temp or when she is acting off. They have not had any problems at all and she just had her 2nd birthday.
T&Ps that your little chunky monkey has a very similar or better outcome!
