I don't think it would be right to force military women to undress and shower with men just as I don't think it's right to force women and men alike to undress and shower with people of the same sex who are homosexual. BTW, I don't think gays should be banned from the military.

But I have served in the military, and this wasn't even on the radar when I served and wasn't an issue. I just can't imagine myself being okay with getting nude in front of a lesbian in the exact same way I wouldn't be okay with getting nude in front of any man who isn't my husband (or dating etc). If there was a lesbian I was serving with, I didn't know it. But to "know" and then "have" to expose myself to her...

Anyone get what I mean? I don't know if there would be any way of circumventing that issue, and perhaps you all are more comfortable with exposing your bodies to someone you're not dating/married to, who could find you sexually attractive.

Sorry to P&R, just wanted to throw that out there. Just curious if anyone else is thinking about that aspect of lifting of the DADT policy.

P.S. btw, I wouldn't want to get naked in front of a straight man EVEN if he didn't find me attractive me in the least bit, so I'm not saying at all that all homosexuals find every one of the opposite sex attractive.

A person doesn't have to identify as a homosexual in order to be sexually attracted to someone as the same sex. Human sexuality is never set in stone.

I guess I don't get what the big deal is. So what if they find you attractive? I'm sure that they know the boundary there and are not going to pursue you. I mean, what is going to happen that makes this situation so scary? Hell, I would probably be flattered if a lesbian found me attractive.

And my sister is also military, as is her H, and an uncle who was Airforce, and according to all of them they were so intent in getting done in the minimal alotted time that no one had time to pay attention to anyone else's junk.

FFS, guess you didn't see " If there was a lesbian I was serving with, I didn't know it. But to "know" and then "have" to expose myself to her... " in the OP. Didn't think I needed to explain that DADT meant "Don't ask, don't tell" and was a policy that was in force when I served in the military.

Aside from you missing that part in my post, you bring up a good point about being intent on getting the job done in the minimal alotted time.

It's not like you are doing a strip tease, FFS. You are getting dressed/showering or whatever in the same room as other women, yes? Similar to a locker room? I would say get over it - the other women (even the lesbians, I'm sure) are probably just as uncomfortable and want to get their business taken care of as quickly as possible.

I suppose the "bare" truth of the matter is that in times of crisis/war etc, it truly would matter not. Honestly, I would hope that everyone would be more focused on the mission, than on who's ogling who.
