My DS started rice cereal at 3 months in his bottle. At 5 months we started spoon feeding carrots and things like that. Tried to spoon feed oatmeal and he HATED it, even mixed with apples, he wants nothing to do with oatmeal... can't really blame him
My pedi said any time after 4 months but that cereal wasn't necessary at all. He also said we could wait until 6 months and just start with veggies instead, which is what we plan to do.
We started at 4.5 months with good success. My LO hates taking a bottle, so we make the oatmeal really thin and it's basically BM with a spoon.
I know starting early isn't AAP recommended (even though many, if not most individual pediatricians still say four months) but it's the only way my DD eats in daycare. I laugh now when I think about how conflicted I was about it. It's just oatmeal and so much better than starving her.

We're starting solids around 6 months and will probably skip cereal and purees and just start with avocado and steamed green beans. Something along those lines. Google baby-led weaning.
Our pedi recommended we wait as long as possible. So we are going to give solids at 6 months. The reason for waiting is that LO has less chance of developing a food allergy. I think this is why so many people have food allergies these days including myself.

My pedi told us to start it about 2 weeks ago, mix it with his bottles about 1-2 times a day then increase. My LO is a big baby for his age. Almost 3 months old, and 14 lbs. He is constantly hungry, so thats why my pedi said to go ahead and give him some.
