Baby Showers

baby shower games

Ok so a friend and I are throwing a baby shower for another friend. We are trying to figure out games to do. Nothing expensive and easy for a small group of girls. What are some games that was played at your baby shower. How do you play them? Also what would be good gifts to give away if they happen to win.. I was thinking maybe a candle or something..

btw.. i have never threw a baby shower in my life. lol

Re: baby shower games

  • My mom's throwing me a shower in a few weeks. She's doing the game where you put candy pacifiers in a bottle and everyone guesses how many are in there. And the baby food game, where you you take the labels off of the baby food jars and they guess what kind is. The diaper gaem, where you melt a choclate cany bar in a diaper and everyone can smell it and look at it, but NOT taste it. And a game where we'll have a calender out and everyone will write their names on what day they think the baby will be due.

For gifts, I would just do candles or picture frames or something like that.

Also theres a game where everyone gets like 5 or 10 clothespins, and through out the shower no one can say 'baby' or anything like that. If they do and someone catches it that person gets one of the other person's clothespins. And the person with the most clothespins wins.

  • The night before my sister's baby shower, I froze a baby firgurine in cup of ice.

I had had to put it in a plastic cup and make sure there is string in it.  I hug the baby ice cub in  a window and had all the guests write down what time they thought the baby would be "Born".  It was pretty fun.

  • I don't know if this falls under "expensive" but decorating onesies, bibs or socks (you can make them look like shoes) with fabric markers is an activity and doesn't require a prize.

The setting off the timer thing is pretty easy and only cost is prize(s).

You can also put a bunch of M&Ms or Skittles in a baby bottle.  The winning guess of how many are in the bottle - wins the bottle with candy.

You can print out baby shower gift bingo cards at home - you can find tons of templates online.  Again, the only cost is the prize(s).

You can do an optional raffle where guests are invited to bring in diapers or storybooks.  Again, the only cost is the prize(s).  This depends on your crowd though - some folks don't like this.

Your gift to the mom can be a basket of small baby items: bib, bottle, baby food, lotion, baby wash, wash cloth, pacifier, onesie, blanket, Desitin, etc..  Everyone has to guess the the cost of each of the items or the total cost of the basket.  Closest with out going over wins the prize.

    HTH!

  • Those are all great ideas. Thank you so much.

  • Here is a cheap game!  DH's cousin had a shower where they played a few games.. one of them they just handed us a paper plate and a pen.  We had 30 seconds to put the plate on our head and draw a picture of a baby on the plate.. haha!  It was really funny once the mom got to look at them.  She judged the best one but I can't remember what the prize was.

  • There are a couple of inexpensive fun games that don't require much thought or talent.  The paper plate on the head is kind of fun (have MTB choose the funniest) You can put several (maybe 20) baby items on a tray and have MTB walk around so each person can look at it.  Then MTB leaves the room and stays away.  The guests are asked questions about the MTB (what color did she have on, how many earrings, if she had a necklace, anything in her hair, rings, how many, etc).  Course the one with the most correct wins.  You can put Q-tips in a jar (or baby bottle) and have guests guess how many are in it...the closest without going over wins.

As for prizes...the favorites I've had have been scratch off lottery tickets.

  • I just hosted a baby shower for my SIL. We played 3 games: gift bingo, baby animal names & guess how many Tootsie Rolls are in the baby bottle.

The baby animal game was just a fill in the blank, the adult was listed & they had to write the name for the baby animals.

    Examples:
    cow- calf
    dog-puppy
    frog- tadpole
    lion-cub
    owl- owlette
    goose- gosling
    goat-kid

We had 20 animals on the list & 3 minutes to complete.

  • For my firend's shower I made up two matching games.  The first was match the werid baby name to the celebrity parent and the second was match the animal to the group name.  The shower theme was baby ducks and each guest got a small rubber duckie to take home.  One guest had the "lucky duck" and won a prize.  I hate "junk" prizes so I gave the winners $5 Starbucks cards.

If you're intrested in the games let me know.  I still have them saved on my computer and I can email them to you if you'd like.
