Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Can you help?

I'd like to write my sister a poem (I love writing poems) for her baby shower.  I want it to be kinda funny....about the funny way things change after you have a baby.  For example, when I woke up to pouring rain last night, I didn't think about flooding or open windows, I thought about which of DDs toys were outside and if they were water proof.  What has changed since you had your LO?  (I know obvious ones...just need some cute ideas!)  Thanks!!!

Re: Can you help?

  • Going from skipping a shower cause your late for work to not remembering the last time you showered.
To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew

  • the diaper bag is my primary accessory.

Going from well groomed to (in the early days) not noticing I had baby puke on me until someone else told me.

  • You reach into your wallet to give the cashier a quarter and you hand them a Chuck E. Cheese game token instead.

The only lingerie you wear consists of nursing bras and "granny panties" and it doesn't matter because your partner isn't getting sex anytime soon anyway!

You catch yourself watching iCarly or Blue's Clues for like an hour... only to realize there are no kids in the house.

It takes about an hour to leave the house for a 10-minute errand, since you have to get the baby ready, pack a diaper bag with all the essentials, and usually re-change the baby when he pees, poops, or spits up on his outfit (or yours).

The code words for "Let's do it!" with your partner are now "Wanna lay the baby down in his crib?"

You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

You'd rather buy a plastic tricycle than those shoes that you've been dying to have.

You give parents with a screaming child an 'I-know-the-feeling' look instead of a 'Can't-they-shut-him-up?' one.

You learn that taking a shower is a luxury.

You have to quit watching the news because you see every story from a mother's perspective and it breaks your heart.

Sorry so long, I found so many good ones!

  • I wake up singing "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" songs and DH starts singing with me.

Sleeping past 7am is a luxury

You wake up to being seranaded to on the baby monitor and you cannot think of anything better.

  • These are awesome!  They've got me tearing up!!!  DD needs to stop growing up so fast!
