Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

nbr: directtv

does anyone have directv? is there a catch to it with such good prices?  My h signed up for it because of the nfl sunday ticket, what are the best rates that you have found?

Re: nbr: directtv

  • I can't really speak to the prices but I know we signed up and when they came they said we have too many trees to get a signal.  Then my DH found out you can get Sunday ticket through Playstation (and I think Xbox).  He was a happy camper :)

yeah, I worry that the signal will be going in and out, we don't have many trees, but I could just see that happening.
  • I had it and liked it enough until they stopped sending me the bill regularly.  I kept calling asking why they weren't sending it every month and then trying to charge me for late fees.  I was fed up enough to cancel it and get Fios.

  • I would never get satellite because it goes out all the time in bad weather. Since we live in MN bad weather of some sort is common most of the year.
  • We have directtv. Thats all that is available in our area. It works fine just make sure you read the fine print. Usually you have one year at a really good rate and the next year is higher. They also have some odd repair rules.

As for it coming in we rarely have trouble with it. Some times if it rains really hard or gets covered with snow it will get scrambled looking. This happens on once in a while. If you live someplace that has a lot of snow if you spray the dish with pam cooking spray it helps the snow and ice slide off.

  • We just got DirecTV last week. I'm getting the NFL Sunday Ticket package with all the movie channels free for 3 months. My package with DirecTV is much cheaper than the basic package I was getting with Time Warner.

The only thing I don't like about DirecTV is that you have to sign a 2 year contract with them and if you don't pay $5.99/month for insurance, they charge you to come out and repair things.

  • We have it and have no problem with the image even in severe weather, the only problem i had with them is when i sign up for the service they have that promotion of if i was referred by someone with directv i would get a $10 off the bill for 12 months & so is the persone that referred me, i gave them all the info for my moms account and she told me it would take 6 week for it to show in the account, well six week went by and no discount i called to complaint and they told me i didnt gave then any info and it was too late to add....I was PISSED .... but i had already signed the contract!

  • We have it since my H is odd man out rooting for his football team up here. I like it, but we lose service in bad weather (so I have a stockpile of DVR'd stuff so I can stil watch TV) and the OnDemand options are nothing compared to Comcast. That's my biggest complaint.

  • We have it I prefer it over dish. We have the highest pack because DH had to have HBO, Showtime, etc. If you have Whole home dvr you can get on youtube with it.
  • We have it and love it. It's true what PP said that you have to sign a 2 year contract and usually the cheap price is only for a year. But I don't think the 2nd year prices is that bad. Usually the only times we lose service the weather is bad enough to knock the power out entirely so it doesn't matter anyway.
