No heartbeat, trying to be optimistic
How long has it taken everyone to get a heartbeat?
Had my first ultrasound today. According to my last period I should be 11 weeks today, I typically have a regular period however this year it was a little off for a few months. After a lot of silence from the ultrasound tech and not being shown anything (I assumed I would be showed the baby) she asked me if I have been having any spotting or cramping. I haven't, and she told me that she was only reading me at 9 weeks and couldn't register a heartbeat.
I am really trying to be optimistic. I didn't have many pregnancy symptoms to begin with but what I had, I still have. I am currently waiting for a call from the doctor to get some kind of news. I am a first-timer, thought I was healthy, and scared to death.

I have not had many symptoms either. The only two are sore boobs and constipation. I would not put too much into that. I literally have not been sick once, nothing smells different, nipples don't look different, boobs are just a little swollen, no bump at all, hair is not shiny and healthy it is actually falling out...
As far as the HB goes we did see one at 8w4d. Not sure how early we would have seen it, that was our first u/s. I know my little sister saw her LO HB at 6 weeks.
If your cycles were off I am going to hope you ovulated later than you think and are just too early. At 9 weeks there should be a HB.

My best friend is now in her 3rd Tri and she had the same thing happen to her. She went in for her heartbeat check at 13.5 weeks and they couldnt hear the heartbeat! Of course she was terrified, but the doctor assured her that sometimes (depending on the position of baby) you cant hear it until 14 weeks or more! They booked her in for an ultrasound the very next day, and they saw the heartbeat then
Try to keep positive, although I know I would be insane with worry.

Karyn, Thank you for the little wave of optimism! I am not in a great place right now and your story inspires me to try to have some hope.
Thank you all for your well wishes, I can't believe how much support can be found on here. The doc called me and basically said it doesn't look good at all. I had to schedule for next week to decide what happens next, I will have another ultrasound before anything gets done. I'm praying and praying for a heartbeat but it's near impossible to be optimistic when the doc isn't.

I'm glad that gives you some hope! I remember how upset/terrified she was until she saw that hearbeat, so I can imagine what you are going through. Good luck and I wish you all the best!!
Oh and PS - my friends doc wasnt very optimistic either...she was concerned that she couldnt find a heartbeat because my friend is a petite person. Fingers crossed for you!
