I have read the information on Continental's website regarding what I am allowed to bring on the plane, and it clearly states Infant Formula is allowed through security, which I already knew. My question is, in what form?
Right now we feed DD using the powdered formula. Can I bring powdered formula through security? Does it have to be in the original container or can I put it into a formula dispenser? What about water for the formula? Do I have to purchase bottled water once through security?
What have you all done that has been easiest for you when traveling with LO on a plane? Is it just easier to buy the 4 oz size ready to drink formula?
Sorry if these a rookie questions, I am just afraid to bring the wrong thing and not have anything to feed DD, and their website is not clear on this.
Re: Formula when flying?
You can bring it in any form: original can, dispenser, pre-mixed or powder.
I always feed LO when the plane takes off. Therefore, I'll make one pre-mixed bottle and bring through security. TSA usually flags my bag and takes a sample to test. I bring one bottle for backup and fill it with formula. I will buy room temp water once I'm through the gate to mix.
If your LO takes the bottle heated the plane is equipped w/ a microwave.
We had 3 pre-made bottles that we took through security. As I walked up to the scanner (holding LO) I told them I had formula and they said no problem come on through. They didn't test it or anything.
We also had powdered formula measured out in our dispenser in our diaper bag - no big deal, didn't even have to pull it out.
We put the big tub of formula in our carseat check bag. It got a little beat up so I would double bag it for sure.
As for the water, we have a brita water bottle that filters the water for LO's bottles. That had to be empty going through security. We just refilled after security at a water fountain.
