Last year, I bought several costumes for Kate, but she only wore one. So we have a bee, witch, and fairy costume that still fit but have never been worn. I'd like her to wear own of those, but I am willing to find something else second-hand if she insists. The problem is, she changes her mind constantly. For the last week, she has asked to be a fire chicken. (She saw an episode of Dora where Boots couldn't decide whether to be a firefighter or a chicken, so he dressed as both - a fire chicken.) She insists that's what she wants to be.
So WWYD? Buy her the fire chicken costume, make her wear one we already have, or wait until it's closer b/c she'll probably change her mind again?
Re: Should two year-olds choose their own Halloween costume?
I would wait until it gets closer. If she changes her mind you won't have yet another costume she won't wear...
Wait for sure. As for whether or not they should choose, I guess it depends on what they choose and if it's reasonable.
Not a parent, but this would probably be my choice. I didn't really "pick" a costume until I was 5. Before that my mom would just pick something she thought would be cute and that was that.

If that is being mean than I am too.

I have learned my lesson about asking what my DD wants to be. This year she wants to be a "ballerina princess muskateer". WTF?! I think next year I'm not going to give her free reign, haha.
