Need birthday ideas

Hi I am on the board IF but I have a 3 year old. So my sons birthday is March 2 but we will have his party the first or second week in April. My question is what should the theme be? We did monkeys, and last year was super heros. I wanted a pirate party but we just got a invite from our friend whos son will be 4 next month and thats his theme. I was thinking a dino party but dont know if he will still be into that. Dragons would be another one. Why does this always happen every year I have to change his theme and the funny part is I don't tell anyone what I want to do. TYI

  • We had a monkey 2nd bday and for this year we did a farm theme. It was great. Lots of fun! I bought cookies in the shapes of farm animals for favors, we played pin the tail on the cow. It was fun!

  • We did a car party for his 3rd.   I got a printable party package on Etsy and used that for the invites and decorations.   For the cake, I made a round cake and a sheet cake.   Cut the round cake in half and put in on either end of the sheet cake to make an oval.   Then I iced it to look like a race track and put a couple hot wheels cars on it. For activities we played toss the bean bag in the tire.   I also had car coloring pages(printed from the party package) and wooden cars for the kids to decorate.

My other idea was a construction party but DS wanted cars.   He still talks about his car party...he loved it!

His 2nd birthday was a lot of fun too.   We did a train theme.

  • If he loves pirates, go for pirates, and don't worry that a friend is doing it 4 months apart from you.  I have a 3 year old girl and if princesses were off limits after one friend did them for her daughter, I would have a very sad little princess on my hands, (and seriously, how many themes are there, really).  There are a million ways to use a theme, so just pick some different activities for your party and you won't feel like you're being unoriginal.

  • I opened up a party site like Birthday Express and showed them to DD and let her choose.  Took some narrowing down but in the end she got the ballerina party she wanted.  And this year...the Wizard of Oz...with a ballet twist since shes having it at a dance studio.

  • All I can say is WOW - not be sound rude or mean but its September and your sons birthday is in March and his party is not until April.  Why are you even thinking and stressing about this now.  I would stop thinking about it and come Jan at the earliest, see what he is into and go from there.  And who cares if 6 other kids do the same general theme - if your kid is into it, go for it.  You can make the party his own by what you do and not what the theme is.
