Gift ideas for preschool classmate?

DD was invited to one of her preschool classmates (boy) b-day parties for this weekend. We do not know the child (seems the whole class was invited). She is really excited about going so we're gonna take her but what would you do about a gift? Price range? any suggestions? Kinda at a loss here...

Re: Gift ideas for preschool classmate?

  • I'm a cheap-o but I would do maybe a coloring book or "regular" book with maybe some little $1 items.  I probably wouldn't spend between 10-12....

  • You could do some puzzles, or fun art supplies, books esp. since u dont know what he's really into right now. For a bday party for one of jack's new classates i got him a truck and 2 fun but educational games/activities and he was turning 4.

  • I just got R a grocery cart recently at a consignment sale and she's played with it everyday since.  HUGE hit.  I have seen them for $10 at Big Lots.

  • I think puzzles or art supplies would be a good, useful, & inexpensive gift.

Duplo blocks are a HUGE hit at our house & you can often find the smaller sets for $15 or less. J was given this one for his bday & LOVES it: https://www.target.com/p/LEGO-Duplo-Cars-2-Agent-Mater-5817/-/A-13398773

ETA: I know this one would be a hit at our house too: https://www.target.com/p/LEGO-Duplo-Police-Bike-5679/-/A-13683021 & only $10.

  • Honestly, if it were me I'd go to the dollar store and let her pick out something for her friend.  She probably knows him better than you think and it'll be so much fun for her to give a gift that she picked out.  We let our kids do all their shopping at the dollar store.  They love picking out their own presents and I love giving them the freedom of being able to pick out anything in the store.  There are some great choices at the dollar store and I bet the kid won't even know or care where it came from!
