Hi everyone! I just found out that I was pregnant, so I'm over the moon happy! My gyn doesn't deliver anymore so it's time to find a new dr. I'm also 40, so would be considered a high risk pregnancy. I'm new to this, so would welcome referrals to doctors/hospitals that you are happy with
Re: OBGYN referral - Billerica area
Hi and congratulations!! I've 7 weeks this week and just had an early first appt with my new OB. I found her by doing research through my Health Insurance Doctor's list and then I cross checked on sites like vitals.com, ratemd.com. I live in Tewksbury and I work in Boston but we opted to find a doctor closer to home vs work. I was having a hard time finding anyone in Tewksbury. Most seem to be in Chelmsford and Lowell or way over in Burlington. There were some in Woburn but they didn't have stellar reviews. Some reviews I gather you have to take with a grain of salt. We don't really care for Lahey and the 2 Lowell hosptials are in the other direction of our house and commutes to work. So I finally narrowed it down to Winchester Hosptial because I have been there a couple times myself, my PCP is there and because I know a lot of friends that have delivered there. My OB actually has an office in North Andover, at the end of 125 right before you get to 114. The office is very nice, clean except their a/c is broken so it was stifling yesterday. My OB is Michelle Rotter and she's relatively young, not sure how old. Guessing mid 30's. She does handle high risk pregnanies too. She is super friendly, easy to talk to, great bedside manner so far. She was patient with me and answered my questions and calmed my nerves. She did a full exam and a pap smear and it was the easiest pap I've ever had done. No discomfort.
Sorry I know this was a LOT longer then you were probably expecting but I found the choosing an OB process a little daunting especially since I haven't told a lot of people yet so I couldn't solicit feedback from people without outing our pregnancy. So all my research was online. Best of luck with your decision!
