I was just wondering if any moms who use Similac Advanced have switched to the Target up and up brand formula and if their babies had any trouble? My son gets constipated very easily and i was just wondering what you mommies thought! Thanks!
Not target, but we did the switch from Similac to the Walmart Parents Choice brand, which I'm told is very similar.
We did a cold switch - finished one can of similac powder, and moved right into a can of parents choice, and had no problem. We also changed for constipation reasons - the Similac seemed really hard on D's digestion.
If they offer it, try a formula with lower iron levels - it worked wonders for D's constipation. Just watch for greying at the lips, nose and eyelids that would indicate he's not getting enough iron, and you need to switch back.
I'm BFing this time around, but last time I switched to formula at 2 months. We used enfamil until DD was 6 months and then I decided to try the Target formula. We never looked back It was SO much cheaper and DD didn't seem to notice any difference
We switched almost 2 weeks ago now and let me tell you...if your LO is anything like mine, constipation will not be a problem. He was pooping usually once a day and now it's like 2 or 3 times, usually. We did a cold switch too and so far he hasn't had any problems with it, except for the stinky, extra poop, but better out than in I guess. When I posted about it a few weeks ago, someone posted that the ingredients are basically the exact same as Similac Advance, so he shouldn't have any problems. GL!
I switched from Enfamil premuim to Up and Up and it did not go well. LO was very gassy and his poops turned more into turds. His sleeping started to suck because he would wake himself up straining to fart/poop.
The ingredients and nutrients were 100% the same but I could tell just by comparing the two powders that they were processed differently. The Enfamil was very fine and the Up and Up was more coarse. Also, when shaking the bottle the Up and Up foamed WAY MORE then the Enfamil which I'm sure created the gas.
Just my experience...all babies are different but after 2 weeks I switched back and LO is doing just fine again.
