2nd Trimester

itchy itchy eyes....(vent)

So I had this problem last pregnancy but it seems worse this time.  Every afternoon my eyes get SUPER itchy.  I haven't even been outside since this morning (walking to work from parking) but I'm pretty sure it's allergies.  My eyes are SOOOOO itchy!

I just left a message with the nurse to see what I can use but seriously....this is driving me crazy!  My makeup is all smeared...I just tried putting drops of ice cold water and it soothed just for a few seconds.....wahhh...I want to go home

(ok, vent over)

  • My eyes have been really itchy lately too. My doctor said I could use Refresh Optive drops.

Thank you so much!  When the nurse calls back I will ask her about it!  I'm dying here. I want to run home and take my makeup off.  Even though most of it is off already.  It just came out of nowhere....Even the area around my eyes itch.....ahhh

  • I live central Texas and my allergies have been crazy. My eyes are itchy, I am sneezing, and now I have this stuff in my chest. Everyone in my office has been going crazy with allergies. I have been taking Claritin (suggested by my doctor) and it has helped everything. I hope you feel better soon.

  • Tears Naturalle are ok to use and they help quickly. I just bought some last night and it was such a relief!

  • Thank you ladies!  The nurse STILL hasn't called but I'm thinking if it's saline and natural it should be ok.  She better call me back!

But weird...out of nowhere it STOPPED.  Of course my eyes are all puffy from rubbing and they feel sore now.  And my eyemakeup is all gone and you can see the bags under my eyes but....whatever....

  • Could it be your eye makeup? I had this SAME problem, and I took a few days off from wearing any eye makeup and it cleared up. It was odd, because not pregnant my makeup was fine!

I went out and bought new mascara, eye shadow and eyeliner from Clinique and it's totally fine now.

  • My eyes itch like this and no makeup.  I try not to rub them since it can pop blood vessels and give your eyelids a very bruised appearance.  Scratching right at the corner of the eye seems to help.  When it gets really bad, I get a damp papertowel that I just press onto the corner of the eye.  It cools and soothes and usually helps relieve it long enough that the itching goes away (since it never lasts forever).
  • I've had the dry eye thing for a few months now- this baby is sucking me dry!

I use Similsan eye drops. They're homeopathic and are not bad for continual use like Visine. My eye doctor reccommended them and I love them. https://www.similasanusa.com/ You can find them at most drugstores.
