WWYD alcohol and BF-ing...

So DH was super amazing and sweet and went out and got a nice bottle of champagne and a nice bottle of wine for whenever LO is born. I obviously don't want to miss out on having some of either to celebrate, a glass of each I assume... Now obviously I have to wait till I'm done with the pain meds, but how should I go about drinking and what to do with LO and the whole milk thing? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I'm not too sure about alcohol and a newborn. lol

    I was told to feed the baby right before you drink then feed it expressed milk until at least two hours after your last drink of alcohol. If you need to express your milk during that time because it is the normal time for baby to eat, "pump and dump" the milk. The baby shouldn't drink it so just dump it out. Hope that helps.

    You really even shouldn't have to "pump and dump" unless you've been out partying all night.  The general rule is, if you are OK to drive, you are OK to nurse.

    They also make testing strips called Milkscreen that you can use.  But they are expensive...I found mine at target and BRU.  I would say that you should be OK if you nurse and put LO to sleep, then enjoy a drink.
