Black Tie Wedding-what to wear

Hey Ladies,

I have a black tie wedding in about 7 weeks and not sure what to wear!!

I will be almost 20 weeks and I am not sure how big I will be at that time, but if I need to get a formal dress I feel like I should start looking soon. I think I want something that is tighter up top and flowy on the bottom to hide any belly..

Any suggestions? I am not sure if I will need maternity by that time ( i would think so)- I am currently a size 2 in week 13 and still wearing my regular cloths.  Not sure how fast I am going to grow!!  Any suggestions on where I should look?

TIA,

Michelle

  • at 20 weeks... my guess is a non-maternity dress with an empire waistline will work just fine!      You won't be too big at that point, so as long as the dress isn't fitted in the waistline, you should be plenty comfortable.    I personally wouldn't pay the premium for a formal "maternity" dress at that point.     happy shopping!
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

This is what I was going to say too.  I was in my sister's wedding at 24 weeks and wore a normal empire waist bridesmaid dress and no one knew I was pregnant!  They kept asking why I wasn't drinking :).  Honestly, I wore a lot of tunics/leggings in the fall last year and I'm wearing them now (at 33 weeks!).  I couldn't justify buying fall maternity clothes at this point.

Everyone is different, but I think you'll be OK with something that wasn't fitted.

This is exactly what I was going to say.  There are so many empire styles in formal dresses, I think you could find one that is non-maternity that will work.  And be less expensive.

Exactly this! There should be plenty of cute stuff coming out in the stores with the changing season. Happy shopping!
