I picked "Absolutely". While I don't feel like it's a necessity bc I would be fine giving a big piece of cake, we get a free smash cake with her birthday cake so I'm pretty freaking excited about that.

I voted yes. The whole celebration is for our pleasure anyway, she won't remember any of it. I failed at staging cute photo ops every month of her first year of life, so darn it I WILL GET THE SMASH CAKE PIC.

Olivia had a princess 1st birthday so she had a mini castle cake (about size of a large muffin). Abigail will have a mini pumpkin cake (same size). So yes I like it but I hate the professional cake smash pictures. I think it's overdone.

He'll get his own cupcake(as will everyone else) and I'm on the fence about doing one at his professional pics. I don't think the pro pics are overdone(at least not up here), but we're having the photographer come to our house and I hate messes!

I made a fancy cake for the party and just a big round cake for DS to smash. His hand touched the icing and he screamed. Poor kid hated it. Later he accepted bits of cake fed to him but the smashing part was a no-go at my house.

DS has MSPI, so he will get a smash cake that is dairy and soy free. There is no reason for everyone else to suffer!

We will have a friend who is a photographer take photos in exchange for golf lessons, otherwise we wouldn't get a professional shot done.
