Things you don't miss as much as you thought you would

For me, I don't miss diet coke as much as I thought I would. While I only had about 12 oz a day, I gave it up because of the caffeine and artidicial sweetener (personal choice). I thought I would miss it a ton, but I don't really miss it at all. Now, salmon and tuna sushi and sashimi is an entirely different story.

What did you give up that you do not miss as much that you thought you would?

  • Surprisingly, beer.  I've never been a huge beer drinker but DH drinks beer exclusively and I think the smell is amazing now lol.  I never used to like the taste but every once in a while I will smell the beer and just want to down the whole bottle lol.

     ETA: Pregnancy brain.. I totally read this post wrong lol.  But sushi is def. up there with things I thought I would miss A LOT more than I do.

  • Beer.  I used to have a couple Guinness when I would come home but I haven't really missed it at all.  I saw FI drinking it last night and didn't even want any.

    Now Sushi...that's a different story.  I'm going to eat my weight in sushi as soon as this LO pops out!

  • beer/wine.  Don't get me wrong, I do miss it but not as bad as I thought.  With my DD1 and DD2 I would purposely avoid outings that there was beer there because I would want it so bad.  Now I go out and I am ok.  Heck, I helped pour wine at my friends' winery and thought it was going to be awful but it wasn't bad at all.  In fact I am helping her again this Saturday.  It is also nice to wake up and not have a hangover (when others do).

  • Diet pop. Oh how I miss it.  Also, when the time comes, sleeping on my stomach.  I still do it, but less because my boobs hurt so much.
  • Coffee.  Don't get me wrong, I miss it dearly, but I really thought it would be unbearable.  I cut it out because I've been trying to eliminate caffeine.  Last week DH got me one and it was amazing, and I think I will continue to have one once in a while.  But I'm really not missing it the way I expected to.

    Now wine, on the other hand, is difficult.  I was never a wine drinker but literally the month I got pregnant I had just found a wine that I love (well, it's an Australian pink moscato) we have 3 bottles in the house because I wasn't expecting to get pregnant. 

  • I missed Sushi a lot at first, but now I'm not missing it as much.

  • Diet Coke...I have never had issues having one a day before, but I cannot stomach it now. I am doing ok, but I feel weird not being wired on caffeine constantly.

  • Here's another one on the beer bandwagon. I missed it like crazy the first couple weeks, but right now everything is gross, so that has pretty much gone away for me. Let's hope it keeps being this easy to not have one with dinner on the weekend like I used to, or I might have to insist my husband go dry, too!

  • Beer, We went to a birthday party for my nephew who turned 21 last weekend at my older sisters house and EVERYONE was drinking except me, DH had a couple of beers, and I really didnt mind it as much as I thought. In fact I was glad, there were 2 -four year olds that NOONE was paying attention to, but since I was sober I was aware of where they were and that they weren't breaking their necks! Besides we left around 11, and the next day I got word that almost every couple there had a huge fight and everyone was hung over and mad sunday morning....haha not us!

  • I don't miss sushi that much either. It sounds good, but when I had it after DD i was underwhelmed.
    i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • I don't miss drinking. I feel so terrible all the time anyway that the thought just makes me feel even worse. I miss the 'idea' of drinking but not the actual drinks!

  • Wine. I mean, I miss the routine, but it's a lot easier not to drink than I thought it would be. I am usually a daily wine drinker.
  • I don't miss coffee...I'm surprised I used to have my jumbo travel mug every morning but I don't miss it at all. I don't even feel like drinking it when DH makes it. I have been drinking diet coke w/splenda too which satisfies my diet pop craving.

    I do miss having a couple beers...

    Oh and I miss lunch meat...it's hard to find something to eat at lunch now. I heart sandwiches.

  • I don't miss coffee either. The smell is gross to me. It's hasn't been as hard to go without caffeine in general as I thought it would be, although I'm starting to have some soda or tea here and there again now.
  • Coffee, I gave it up in Feb and I don't miss spending $3 everyday at Dunks! I kinda want some Mountain Dew (I've never been much of a soda drinker) but it sounds so good!!

  • My biggest thing was pop. I drank it constantly. I know, not healthy but I love the carbonation in my mouth. Mmmm. But I don't actually miss it anymore. And I can drink caffeine free so its an ok substitute. Every now and then I do treat myself to a coke or Dr pepper though.

  • I don't miss soda like at all. My doctor recommended hanes natural soda if i was craving it since it has no caffeine and no artificial stuff in it. Totally good mixed with orange juice!

    But i am CRAVING sushi. I am going to ask my doctor next week if california rolls would be ok since there is no raw fish.

  • Honestly, I don't live life a whole lot differently now than I did before. I'm trying to think of what I was afraid of missing when I was pregnant with DS, but I think since we were trying for so long, I was expecting the changes more and didn't end up missing things that much.

    I do miss being able to sleep in the car on the way home from the bar on Wednesday nights. now that DH has a built in dd, he drinks more than he used to and even if I'm falling asleep at the wheel I have to drive, because he can't. That was lame last night. But it's not a huge deal most of the time.

  • I really thought I would miss my daily wine and cigarette when I got home from work and I really don't. 

    My adderall however is another story LOL. I don't miss it that much... It just made work go by a lot faster. And I was MUCH more productive. I'm pretty much a lazy POS now. 

    Its so strange to go through the day with my hormones being my only source of uppers/downers.

  • I was thinking I?d have a harder time giving up Coffee. I am one of those people who would have two lrg cups in the morning followed by    Starbucks in the mid afternoon.  I?m really kind of liking the non caffeinated me ? plus I?m saving a bunch of money.
