to buy Box Tops on Ebay?

I will start by saying that we buy absolutely NOTHING that has box tops. Nothing, not even Cheerios. The 2 processed things that we buy (Kashi cereal bars and Annie's Cheddar Bunnies) don't come with them.

DS's preschool is collecting them, the class that collects the most gets a party and the child that collects the most gets a $10 gift card. I didn't look on Ebay to cheat so he could win, but so I could buy some just to participate. But the smallest number that I see to buy is 100 for $13.49.

To answer your question, yep it's cheating. However, I'm guessing the rules for said contest did not stipulate in which manner you had to obtain the box tops so I say IMPRESSIVE! I'd get 'em.

Personally... it seems silly to buy them because they'll get a "party" with inexpensive snacks and juice probably and he might get a $10 gift card BUT you'd be paying $13.49 for him to have something that you could purchase for him... I would understand it a bit more if he could understand what was going on...

I would just ask friends/family and the ladies on here to save them for you. How long do you have to earn them?

I don't want to buy them so that he will win - but just so that we can participate. If I could buy 25 of them, that would be perfect! The contest ends on October 14th (3 weeks), but we will be OOT that week and have to turn them in by the 7th - so I only have 2 weeks. I might get 5 from friends and family, seriously.

When I was in school Campbell soup labels were the things to collect. My grandmom had her church friends saving them for me. So people sell them on Ebay I never would have thought of that

Do not waste your money buying them. The ultimate goal here is for the school to raise money. Most of the labels are worth .10 for the school. You're better off donating $13 than buying them off ebay.

I save them for no reason, and have 19 right now I'll send you. PM me your info.

ETA: I think a lot of ladies on the swap spot board save them too, if you ask there you might get some people willing to send you some.

My little cousins used to collect them and I have continued to same them because I am slightly AR (I am trying to start admitting this, lol). Any who, I have probably 10+ sitting on my counter that my DH would love to throw out. I would rather send them to you, if you want them. Send me a PM with your addy.

Can you ask a friend/family if you can come raid their cupboards? A lot of them are on boxes that you could just cut them off and it wouldn't hurt your friends food storage. KWIM?

Yeah I just noticed them on my trash bag box.

I also wouldn't consider it cheating since you are paying for them through Ebay. So the money was spent at some point to purchase them.

I can't believe you can buy them on Ebay too. Just like coupons. Seems so weird to me.

Yeah, I'm going by my Dad's and Sister's tomorrow to raid their cupboards, lol. I tend to buy generic freezer/sandwich and trash bags. I got so excited when I saw that I had 2 boxes of Glad freezer bags, but it's Ziplock that has the box tops. I went through everything in my house...not 1 box top!

If you want the box tops so your child can participate, just buy a box of cereal at the store and let him take the box top in. Surely you have a friend or neighbor that will eat the food if your family won't.

I would honestly rather buy them on Ebay than do that. We are on a strict budget and it makes no sense to go buy a $3.50 box of cereal for 1 box top that is worth $.10. I don't have guilt about "giving" because we give often, this just seems frivolous. If I see something that we need with a box top I will buy it.
