So, now that your babies are here, do you still love the name you gave them? DH still loves the name Hadley Mae, and I do too, but I admit I have my moments when I regret it a little bit. The only reason I say that is bc when people ask us her name nobody understands what we are saying! It's so frustrating! We liked it bc we thought it was different without being off the wall weird, but now I'm starting to think that others think it is weird. I feel bad for her, as I'm afraid she will spend her whole life repeating and spelling her name for people. Poor baby. I still think it's a pretty name, and I'm sure as she grows into it and her personality starts to shine through we won't be able to imagine her by any other name.
Re: Do you still love LO's name?
I absolutely love Otis' name. I never had regrets with DS1's name, and I'm hoping I'll always feel the same way about Otis' name as well.
His MN is my grandfather's FN -- he passed away 1 month after DH and I got married. I know I'll always love it because it's a family name.
FWIW, I love Hadley. I think it's very cute
When I was doing "research" it seemed like for folks with unique names it seemed that most loved them ("I feel special") and some hated them ("I don't fit in"). So depends on the person and the culture. These days, around here, near everyone has a non-traditional spelling so that's par for course. My name is like that and I am glad for it, happy to spell it over and over; I like my name.
We chose "Luelle" for our LO which we thought would be easy enough for folks to hear and repeat (albeit spelling required), but I am finding it confused with the more common "Luella", so am having a tiny winy bit of regret also (like you said). But not enough to change it. Heck, even though my name is traditional sounding, I have to repeat it plenty of times, and my DH gripes that people misspell his name even though it's the name of a major city.
mlc, what a beautiful picture of the girls!

I have no regrets on Emmett's name. We didn't have a long "boy" list either, so I don't know what we would change it to! It seems to fit him pretty well. We get a lot of compliments on it, though I know it took certain family members time to get used to it. I even had a stranger tell me that he looked like an Emmett, so it was a fitting name. LOL.
ETA: I like the name Hadley. I think it's cute for a baby but will grow up well with her!
I still love her name & wouldn't change it, but it doesn't "fit" her yet.. I agree with you OP, once she has her personality she will seem like a "Stella" to me and I'll never think twice. I love her whole name, and so does DH- we agreed on it as soon as we thought of it.
What I do not love is being asked whether I named her for a beer (get real), when she'll get her groove back, and of course hearing people's lame attempts at a Brando impression. I hope she'll have a better sense of humor about it than I do.
I love her name and happy we named her after my mom. My family was so surprised and loved it. Most people are surprised b/c you don't hear Nina too often. Someone asked me if it was short for Christina - which it is not.
We still really like our boy name too and aren't sharing it b/c we still will want to use it or our next child.
I was never super in love with it to begin with. DH loved the name Caleb and I couldn't find one I really loved...and I didn't mind Caleb, so I let DH win that round! I think its kind of an odd name...but its actually quite popular! I have run into lots of Caleb's since his birth...so I guess its not that strange.
I told DH I get first dibs on the next LO's name.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Clive. If we have another DS, I will fight harder for Clive. DH didn't really get into it, but I do really love it!!
I love it but MIL hates it.
We named her Gemma Renae Ann. Renae from my MIL's name Renate and Ann from my mom Betty Ann. When DH told his mom her biatchy response was, "But my name is Renate, not Renae. Im not french, Im german" That was her first comment about my baby.
So we dropped the "t" and made it more...well let me say prettier. Do you think my mom said "My name is Betty Ann, not Ann", ofcourse not-she is tickled pink that we named our baby after her.
If anything Im upset that when our lil girl is older and asks why we named her what we did Im going to think about her ungrateful grandma, "Im not french-Im german" comment.
Absolutely! I was surprised by how many other people really liked it too. When I tell them I named her Lydia, they usually say "Oh wow...I LOVE that name! So classic and beautiful!"
Of course there is a small handful of people that don't listen and think I say Olivia and not Lydia. lol
Yes, I still love DD's name even though it gets misspelled more then not. I don't really mind..we knew that would happen.
(Her name is Giulia, the Italian spelling of Julia.)
// I love you too. //
i love Connor too; but it will be ok with more then 1 connor.. It was in the top 100 but i'm ok with that. I wanted a name that people would know but not be like in the top 5
Only very small regret i have is that DH, me and DS #1 middle names all start with a G and we gave Connor a middle name of Eugene. When we got our insurance card the E stood out so bad... kinda wish we would have done Gene (Eugene is his dad's name; but he goes by Gene) just so we would all have G as a middle name.. but not biggie
Yes, I still love the name Emerson and it seems to fit her.
We have had kind of the opposite though. I found out the other day through my DH that hardly anyone in his family liked the name when we first announced it back when I was pregnant, and now they all love it and think it is perfect for her.
But everyone who doesn't know her name and asks, tell us that is a great name and they love it.
