I just don't get it. My blood sugars are all over the place. I am eating what they told me. I started my morning Novolog two days ago, but that is the only insulin I am taking because my bs was going up 170-180's after breakfast. Most of my lunch and dinner ones have been okay. But tonight my bs 2 hours after dinner was 171. I had the exact same meal I had last week and my bs was 118 last week. I have an appt tomorrow. But I just can't make any sense of it. Does anyone else have these erradic glucose levels after the same meal?

Re: So frustrated with my blood sugar
Yup! It's part of the "joy" of GD sometimes. Look for things that might impact blood sugar: If you didn't sleep well/had insomnia, illness, stress, etc all can cause blood sugars to rise. So if you ate the same meal two days in a row, but day two was high, but you had a crazy stressful day, that could cause the jump. Of if last week you ate your snack on time before that meal, but this week you missed your snack - another possibility for high numbers. Just keep following the diet, keep testing your sugars, drink plenty of fluids, and exercise 30 minutes each day if you can. Beyond that, there is not a lot you can control. Hormonal changes increase insulin resistance, so what gave you great numbers last week can be high the next. If you get more than two high readings for the same meal, make sure to call your doc.
Not everyone is as crazy as I am, but I write EVERYTHING down. Every meal, insulin doses, each meal and snack, how much exercise, and any notes on how I am feeling if I feel sick or stressed, etc. I find this really helpful when trying to figure out what is happening with my numbers and especially helpful when I have to meet with my doc. I can send you a copy of my log sheet if you want one.
Sorry it's so frustrating!!!

I have the exact same issue and it's so frustrating.
What did your doctor say?
They increased my morning insulin becaiuse they were higher. She told me if I ever have a random high one after a meal that usually doesn't cause it, to check it again. If I have two or more dinner ones that are over 130 this week I am supposed to start 2 units of insulin at night. I just cut my own carbs back to 45grams at dinner and my last two have been in the 120's. It is frustrating. Good luck to you too!
