Having a cold while pregnant is a cruel joke! DH spent some time with the pharmacist to find the "safest" medication for me, which is a generic sudafed, but the pharmacist warned about it restricting blood flow to the babies, so naturally I'm terrified to take it. What did you take?

Re: Anyone had a cold yet? :(
That's not fun!
I maybe too cautious, but I don't take anything while pregnant. I'm sure there are things, but I guess I don't want to risk it! I do the nety pot, hot showers to decongest, spicy food- also to decongest...Hope you feel better soon!

Ugh. I woke up this morning feeling terribly sick!! I have a headache/body ache/sore throat/ ears are all stuffed up etc.. so my plan is to get some vitamin C drops and drink lots of decaf hot tea!
I hope you feel better!! Being sick is no fun, especially when you're pregnant

Colds are no fun. My DD gave me hers but I haven't taken anything with this cold yet. I was going to take benadryl but I didn't have any.
Rest and fluids help too. GL!!

Excited to welcome a new addition September 2014!
I've had one for the last week or so. Today is actually the first day I can breathe through my nose again!! I didn't take anything for it. Just drank lots of water & OJ
When I had my intake apt. at the hospital they gave me a list of OTC drugs for different symptoms that are safe:
sore throat: chloraseptic spray or lazenges
cold & flu: tylenol (reg or x strength), actifed, tylenol-cold, sudafed,
congestion: ocean spray, vaporizer, robitussin (plain or cf)
cough: robitussin, cough drops
DO NOT USE advil, aleve, or aspirin to relieve your pain. It's in caps and bold, several times, so I'd avoid those
Is their a nurse help line you can call to ask as well, just to double check any of these?
I'm sorry you're sick. It really sucks. I ended up with bronchitis last month and was put on antibiotics, I still have lingering effects from being sick and the start of a sinus infection so my doctor put me back on antibiotics. I'm hoping they work this time and I don't have to take anything else again. I really hate taking stuff while pregnant but I have a horrible immune system and a simple cold turns into bronchitis/laryngitis/strep for me.
Keep drinking lots of fluids, especially water and juice. Warm showers/baths help break up the congestion and turn a humidifier on while you're sleeping. Good luck!
I had one early on, and my Dr told me I could take the good sudafed - where you have to give your ID to get it (I had to get generic because the name brand had been recalled for something), and I could take Claritin (but not D) if it's allergies.
I haven't had one since then, but the kids at school are already starting with the sniffles and colds and whatnot, so it's only a matter of time. Usually this doesn't start until late October/early November - going to be a long 3 months...
