Baby Names

Why are boys names such a struggle?

I want something original, yet not to strange where the kid will get beat up, but I have not found anything. All I was able to think of was Reid, Reece and Owen. Those aren't original but I like them. Thoughts anyone?

  • Sounds very similar to our list.  We are team green and can not decide.  Some of our top choices are:

Reid, Elias, Julian, Ian, and Evan.  FWIW our son's name is Nolan

  • You sound like me when I was pg!  We went with Connor Reese.  We also had similar names on our list.

  • I LOVE nameberry! There are some die hard name nerds on there that give fantastic advice and there are also daily blogs about different names. This list has some great names that are not too over the top.

BTW I love Rhys! It was on our top names list.

  • Sounds like us too! Our list consists of Everett, Lincoln, Lane, Landry and Noel. I find problems with all of them, and I swear he's never going to have a name.

Oh, and some days we like Hudson, Hank or Deacon.

  • I think they're hard because we tend to gravitate toward "stronger" and more masculine names for boys - and those tend to be the more popular ones (which isn't a bad thing, because they are classics, but it does suck if you are going for something a little more original). We were team green and girl names we liked were like 200+ on the SS list, but most of the boy names we liked were in the top 50.

DS is Zachary, which I love. It's strong and classic, but has actually been declining in popularity since the 90s. Other names we liked were Benjamin, Simon, Elliot.

  • I like your list.  I prefer the spelling Rhys for a boy, but realize it does present pronunciation challenges.  I know a sibset named Rhys and Jude. I love those names together.  Our boys are Reed and Pierce, which I think have the same vibe you are going for.  The other names on our list are Brooks, Grant, Graham, and Clay.  I also adore the name Leo.
  • We have a Reid and I love his name!

We have thought about Owen for this baby if it is a boy. We are team Green.
