Does anyone have a preferred OB or family med doc at OHSU? Everyone I've talked to has gone to Legacy for their prenatal care, but unfortunately none of those docs are covered by my insurance.
We had OHSU for years, including DD's prenatal and L&D, and was very happy. Our primary doc was Jennifer Lochner at south waterfront family medicine. She was great, but I think she went home to WI. We also saw Daisuke Yamashida - he actually delivered DD - and he's really wonderful. I know he's still there, and I think he actually took over Dr Lochner's patients.
I saw one OB at Women's Health for a post-delivery complication and really liked him. He was an older man, but I can't remember his name. Overall, people seem happy with that clinic, although I've heard they are often running behind. I've also heard good things about their midwifery clinic, especially if you'd like a water birth.
FWIW, if you use the OB clinic, you'll have whoever is on call for delivery. The family med clinic has a family med doc on call, but they also call in your doc.
FYI, we took the weekend birth class at OHSU and it was great. Way better than most seem to be. Lots of good info for med-free, epi, or c/s births - no pressure one way or another - and an included but optional breastfeeding class. I highly recommend.

Hello! My OB is at teh center for women's health at OHSU. Her name is ALison Edelman. LOVE LOVE LOVE her. I saw or met pretty much all the team during my pre-natal care though and really liked all of them.
My dr is Margaret (Meg) Hayes at OHSU Family Medicine. She delivered DD and they called her when I was delivering DS but she just missed his birth since he came so fast. We all love her, but she is very busy and we have to make sure to make appointments far enough in advance to see her. She does OB work though and also all the well visits for the kids.
I just delivered my son two months ago and saw dr. lishiana shaffer almost the whole time. I loved her, our personalities just clicked. She's very funny and easy going. i would recommend her to any of my friends. (sorry for poor grammar, baby on the breast, typing w one hand)
