thighs rubbing against each other

My thighs have grown and are rubbing against each other.  It's starting to feel raw.  I've had my thighs touch years ago when I was bigger, but it didn't quite feel like this. I live in warm climate and wear skirts and dresses nearly everyday.  Other than wearing pants (which I will do), anybody have any recommendations?

Re: thighs rubbing against each other

  • try finding some spankies at a sporting goods store. youd have to wear them under your bump, but they were awesome during hot days/nights cheerleading and are very comfortable

  • Get aerobic shorts to wear underneath or maternity spanx. I'm having this problem too and have just given up on skirts and dresses for right now and just wear pants even though it's still hot outside (80 degrees). Better than chafed thighs. I know some people use baby powder but I hate the smell of it and it has never worked well for me.

  • Anti chafing cream.  I use it when running in hot weather.

  • A friend of mine recommended THIS CHAFING GEL.  I haven't used it yet, but she says it's the best out there.

    "chub rub"-- haha, love it.

i've started to do a lot of targeted strengthening exercises to target my thighs.  i don't mind the chub rub while preggers, but i am hoping to get my old legs back post-baby.  one can dream...

  • If you don't like baby powder, other body powders work, too. I have a kama sutra brand body powder that I use and it helps a lot. Not exactly the intended purpose but it does the job!

  • The anti-chaffing gel always seems to work for me.

  • I got the nude maternity "spanx" at motherhood and wear them under all dresses and skirts now. With this heat, it was getting to be a problem. They are not tight at all.

  • I had it really bad went I went back to NY due to the change in humidity. I second everyone elses suggestions about the chafing cream...also one that that I found helped immensely is that if it gets REALLY bad, put triple antibiotic ointment on it at night before you go to bed. I had it so bad I could barely walk, and after about 3 days of putting antibiotic cream on it was totally gone
  • I always have chub rub and hate it! I run a lot and have found the following items to work (not together, just in general): Vaseline or Deoderant (both are less $$ than anti chafing gel and work for me). My hubs uses vaseline on his nipples when he runs or else they will bleed raw...I have been using my belly balm on my thighs too and that works for most of the day, if not, then I just reapply....hope you find something that works for you

  • I like Gold Bond Powder for this.  It smells fresh and clean, and even has a cooling feeling when applied.  Also, be sure to dry thoroughly before getting dressed.  Any moisture will make it worse.

  • BABY POWDER.... I have the same issue...when I put the powder on, it does help...and in the morning, it is like I am all better and don't have the raw feeling.

     Good luck...

  • Get a stick of BodyGlide. I know all about the thigh rub - my thighs rubbed together even when I was a size 2.

  • It feels even more uncomfortable after baby is here. Before DS, I was on the smaller side & my thighs never touched, but after giving birth and trying to walk normal, all they did was rub together and it HURT like crazy. I'm hoping after this one I can get away with wearing sweats all the time and not feel that weird sensation of them rubbing.

  • Monastat makes a gel and a powder that work well but the best thing I've found is deodorant (just not the gel kind). I do still use the monastat powder on the days I forget to use the deodorant on my thighs. It soothes really well, and believe me you don't want to put deodorant on chaffed, inflamed skin as it burns like crazy. It gets pretty humid here in the summer time, so I feel your pain. I hope you find something that works for you.

  • The monastat anti chafing gel rocks the house! I've had chafe my whole life, and it sucks! Even when I was bone skinny, I still rubbed down there. Dang genetics.. my parents get it as well (and they're super skinny). My #1 advice for dresses/skirts is tiny biker shorts. Just get them at a running store. I wear them to music festivals each year, and always have a pair handy. My skin is so sensitive that sometimes pants are even worse... Grab the anti chafe gel, bikers and you'll be good to go! Best o' luck!
