I'm currently about 15-20 pounds heavier than when DH and I first met (12 years ago). I gained waaaaayyyyy too much weight with my pregnancy, and I've slowly been losing it, but I"m not there yet. I've lost about 9 pounds in the last four months, and I want to lose at least another 10. I'm doing Weight Watchers, and I'm just so sick of it. If I even break from it on the weekends, like have an extra beer or have dessert, I'm screwed and lose nothing that week. I feel like this weight is never going to come off.
Re: I'm sick of dieting VENT
And thus the vicious cycle....
try having 100+lbs to lose. Yea, I feel the way you do almost hourly!
I'm sorry you are getting discouraged! You know that it WILL work -- just might take a bit longer than you were hoping/wanting. But the alternative is to say screw it, GAIN weight, and then end up a total fatass like me. And we KNOW you don't want that!
Gah. I'm wicked short, so these 20 pounds really show. I need to exercise but whenthefuck am I supposed to do that? How are you working moms finding time to do that? DH works nights, so I'd have to hire a sitter. He can't watch them in the morning because that's when he needs to sleep. Besdies I already get up at 5 a.m. for the baby, and I can't see getting up at 4 to go running.
Whine, whine, whine, vent, vent, vent. I just want to eat cake and pizza.
LOL! Go have some cake and pizza and then move on. Back on track tomorrow. If it will make you feel better, and get you over the hurdle, go for it. (Of course getting nutrition/diet advice from me is like getting addiction advice from an current alcoholic)!
At any rate, working out. You could work out after the kids go to bed. 7:30-8:30 or 8:30-9:30. Even walking 30 minutes a day is going to help (listen to me, all knowledgable andshit!)
But seriously, anyone can fit in 10 minutes of walking 3 times a day. Just something to kickstart the metabolism. (Ok, I'm going to shut up now since I'm annoying even myself)!
(((HUGS))) Augustmom .....((((HUGS))))
I hear this. yeah, on paper I've got time to hit the treadmill/do an exercise video after the kids are in bed but, guess what? I'm done by that time. I am so, so, so sick of my pudgy self and feeling starved all the time only makes me grumpier.
I keep telling myself I'm going to get some activity during my lunch (which I don't always take) but the excuses to NOT do it keep coming up. And winter is around the corner.
I want to eat pizza and ice cream too. And wine.
this, keep a food journal for a few days. Be brutally honest and write down EVERYTHING. Even if it's a bite of food to taste it to make sure it's seasoned. you'd be surprised. Measure everything too. I did medical weight years ago, and one thing they told me was to pour a bowl of cereal like I normally would, and then measure out the proper serving and see what a difference it is! I was eating almost 2!!
You can find 10 - 30 minutes here or there. I had 10 - 15 to lose but didn't necessarily need to lose it. I just wanted to tone up. Here's what I did
I did was 30 day shred. Non stop for 30 days, 10 days for each session. the workout is 20 minutes I think, then there is warm up, cool down whatever. The only thing I did differently diet wise? Water and added a veggie. I drank a glass of water before workout, during and water. after the 30 days I think I took a few days off then started again, but every other day. did absolutely nothing diet wise just watched portions a bit better and we haven't ate out as much. After about a week of that, on my off days, I do an aerobic workout on my treadmill, 30 minutes whatever is already programmed in I do this 5 days a week alternating. . I did not take measurements and our scale broke . I just know that a pair of pants when I started, before the first round, I couldn't get past my thighs. I'm wearing them now. I did weigh myself at my moms and I haven't lost a pound, just really starting toning up and I might have stepped it up a bit if I wanted to lose but I am satisfied with my results. I am constantly on the go with kindy, preschool, dance, drop offs , whatever you name it! With the exception of the first 30 days, I only do it 5 days a week. You can do it!
I have been known to put on a movie for the kids or show whatever and set up my laptop in the corner of the room and do a video right there with the kids. sometimes they leave me alone, sometimes they exercise with me! Not sure where you live but even comcast has on demand videos. Oh, if you have netflix, there is a 10 minute cardio kickboxing thing! love it! it's 5 10 minute sessions, you can do 1 or you can do 5, whatever, each one targets a different area.
sorry for the rambling. I got in a rut and was doing really well with running. I was up to almost 5 miles a day, then I had a horrible sinus infection and didn't run for a few days, and then I got lazy. I had to force myself to do it. I also find that if I do it in the morning I am much better off, if I wait until later in the day, I always "find" something that will keep me from it.
sorry for rambling!
I know how you feel. I currently have 20 lbs to lose too.
At one point in college, I was up to 155 lbs (at 5'4"), and I did Slimfast to lose the weight. It took me the whole summer. I basically starved myself on that stupid diet and exercised 4-5x a week. Any week that I cheated with dessert, a drink, etc, I didn't lose any weight. The other weeks I averaged 1-2 lbs. How crazy is it that I had to practically starve myself to lose only 1-2 lbs a week? Yeah.
Now I'm around 155-157 lbs again, except this time I haven't really put any effort into losing it. I started the C25K program and got about 1/2 way through before doing the Dirty Girl Run. I was losing a bit of weight that way... about 3-4 lbs in 2 months. I suppose I might as well just start exercising again, and maybe the weight will be gone by next year.
