I am actually an OT and we made them in OT school. Very simple! Did the OT tell you how much weight she recommends?
What we did was take fabric and make and square pattern with a sewing machines so it had pockets we would fill every other pocket and then sew that row shut.
I can further explain if you are still interested or if it doesn't make sense. We used rice for the weight, or else you can use dried corn.

Ours just arrived from affordabletherapysolutions.com. Can't recall what we paid. I'm not crafty, so making it was not an option. But I wanted to mention another fill option--glass pellets or beads. That's what ours has and it's supposed to be machine washable.
