Baby doll

Several people have recommended giving my DD a baby doll to help with the introduction of the new baby.  How many of you have done this and when did you present your LO with the doll, before the baby was born or upon meeting the baby?  Also, can you recommend a good doll?  I am looking at two, the Gotz Muffin and the Corolle Calin, both are very cute.

    We did this. I bought DD a baby from walmart last week. It was $11 and came with a bottle, pacifier and Teddy bear. I wanted one with a pacifier because we took hers away at 9 months and I don't want her stealing DS's. So far we just play with the baby. We do gentle with the baby, kiss the baby and hug the baby. She also tries to feed the baby her baby bottle and she pushes it in the baby stroller. It really cute and she's so sweet with it. I really think it's helping her (but who knows for sure). I also hold the baby randomly so she gets used to me just holding a baby. My DD is only 13 months but I really think she's understanding the concept of a baby...
    SAHM to the sweetest little girl and boy... I love my job!

    I had planned to give it to her in the hospital to bring home.. but she found the TRU bag and was so excited to play with it..I gave it to her a week before the baby came.  I got her a Fisher Price one.. for 18 months and up I think.  Basic.. perfect size for her.  Got a stroller and the graco babydoll pack n play.  So cute to see her feed her baby doll.  so sweet the way she is so nurturing with it.  She loves it..

    I'm not due until December, but I bought the Corolle Calin for my daughter.  We decided to give it to her when we come home with the baby from the hospital.
