  • You hear about stuff like that on Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, and almost never in real life! That's too crazy.

I know.  I remember when I first heard how everything on those shows has really happened...here's proof!

  • I remember reading about a British woman who conceived two babies a few weeks apart.  Strange things going on in the world!
Married to my best friend 6/5/10

I fear this may showcase my ignorance on the human reproductive system, but how can you have babies a few weeks (or a few months) apart? Even with the two uteri, don't the hormones involved with pregnancy prevent ovulation? I understand a few days apart or at the same time due to delay in implantation, but I'm at a loss for the greater times between. Anyone?

  • My favorite comment is the one where person says since there are 2 different eggs the babies are siblings, not twins. I have sibling babies too!

I don't know the science behind it, but my BFF went to school with someone who's sibling were conceived 2-3 months apart.  The mom was on strict bedrest to make sure baby #1 made it to 40+ weeks so baby #2 was as far along as possible.  Baby #2 obviously was born premature, but survived.

    Huh. Thanks!

Superfetation - Sounds like something that should be said with a fist-pumping action.
