This is horrible of me, but I really have no sympathy for people who are whining about ailments right now (non-pregnant people). One of my students kept laying his head on his desk while I was standing all hour, reviewing them for a test. I ended up telling him to either pick his head up or go sit in the office. He looked a little sick, but I didn't care. I'm usually extremely sympathetic, but not lately. I'm 38 weeks pregnant, feet are swollen, having mild contractions, peeing myself, and all around uncomfortable. If I can STAND for an hour, you can lift your head up off your desk and listen to me while I try to help you. This is just one example of many that I have. OK, vent over.

Burned by the Bear
DH: My head hurts....
Me: Can you take excedrine?
DH: I suppose, but we don't have any...
Me: Well I suggest you go get some, because you're making my head hurt and I can't take any....and if you continue to make my head hurt this isn't going to be a pretty night.
I worked in medical records at our local hospital during the summer in high school and college, and some of the things people came to the ER for were outrageous. I think most of the cases were people who didn't have to pay for the visit, so they didn't care.
Me too! One of my biggest pet peeves is students who will not come in before or after class or school to get help. This is for students who are here super early and are doing nothing while they wait for school to start. Anyway, one of those students came up to me and said "I didn't do your work, cause I didn't understand it". I seriously rolled my eyes at her, because I know she was in another teacher's room this morning talking with friends, when she could have been getting help. I have no patience whatsoever.
This. I'm a supply teacher, but I've only gotten called in once this year (well, school's only been going for 2 weeks and 2 days so far) and it was for a half day at the school across the street. I didn't even have to do a lesson, just supervise students and help them with their work, and I was *exhausted* after. DH and I decided I better not take any full day jobs; I just can't handle it!
